We started taking ours at 2 1/2 to 3. Our dr said to take them when they first started showing teeth but when I called my dentist (who has been the family dentist since before even I was born) he called me back and said that around 2 or 3 was better UNLESS their teeth looked odd. I went with the dentist's advice on this one....and both kids have great teeth! ;-)
By the way at that age they don't do xrays. (my dentist didn't anyway....he said there was no need to expose them to the radiation and he waited til they were 5)...just do a mild cleaning and check for cavities or any other problems.

I started my children at the dentist at 3 years old and even that wasn't a totally great idea. My second son didn't really cooperate until he was closer to 4. My dentist said that 3-4 was a good age to start. Hope this helps!

I took my daughter when she was 3. She wasn't having any problems and that is what a lot of Dentists recommended in my area. She did really well at that age. I would just call your dentist and see what the procedure is and what they recommend.

I'm afraid to say that I was advised to take my daughter to the dentist from her first tooth appearing, so she got used to the idea of sitting on my lap and opening her mouth for him. You should definitely take her ASAP. Don't wait for the doctor to say something - he'll notice if there's something badly wrong which needs a dentist right away, but not the little things which can be nipped in the bud if dealt with early (such as if you're not cleaning her teeth well enough).

my kids pediatrician says to bring them before they start kdg... like around 5. Also its best to take them to one of your appts and let them sit in the chair and the dentist will just show them the tools being used so they aren't scared when they have a real appt.

I was told to bring my son at the age of three! That is to ensure that he'll hold still for x-rays ,and let the hygientist brush and floss his teeth.

when the first tooth comes in. the earlier you take her to a dentist, the sooner you'll know of any potentially bad conditions.
