"if you can see it then it's not faith..." do you believe that?
I mean, I have faith that my loved ones will be there for me, because they have always done so. I have faith the sun will rise tomorrow, because it has always done so. I believe in my faith and my vision of the world because I see evidence of it all the time.
What do you think?

I HAVE FAITH But
WHEN I TELL PEOPLE THINGS ABOUT HOW
JESUS SAVED ME AND FILLED ME WITH THE HOLY
SPIRIT.THIS WAS A REAL PHYSICAL EXPERIENCE
WHEN I TELL PEOPLE ABOUT THE MIRACLES
THAT HAPPENED (I SAW THE MIRACLES WITH MY
OWN TWO EYES)

CAROLE WHY DO YOU THINK I TELL PEOPLE ABOUT THESE THINGS? BECAUSE THEY HAPPENED TO ME. SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE GILIGAN ON GILIGAN'S ISLAND.HE SAW SOMETHING IT REALLY HAPPENED BUT NO ONE BELIEVED HIM UNTIL THEY SAW IT THEN THEY BELIEVED.BUT I NEVER HEARD THEM SAY I AM SORRY GILLIGAN FOR NOT BELIEVING YOU. BUT IN REAL LIFE WHEN SOMEONE RECEIVES JESUS BECAUSE I LED THEM TO JESUS.THEY DO SAY THANKS YOU WERE SO RIGHT. LIKE Aqila SAID TRUTH SPEAKS - Anonymous1 decade ago
i think that believing the sun will rise is not faith but merely proven fact, it is innevitable the sun will rise. So dont worry about that. Also i believe faith is more about trusting in someone and supporting them even when the outcome might not be what you anticipated and there might be trouble along the way. Possibly like in a stressful relationship: the couple might not get on as well as they liked but they trust each other and have faith in each other. To pull through and work things out.
(hope that answers your question)

Faith, by definition, is the belief in things not seen.
You see the loyalty and devotion your family and friends show towards you, so that is not faith, it's confidence. If you suddenly needed help from a stranger, someone you never laid eyes on before, and you somehow knew he would help you, -that- is faith. The sun rising tomorrow, well that's just how the solar system works, there's no reason -not- to believe it.

"Faith takes many forms, and has many qualities.
There is the world of the 'seen', and there is the world of the 'unseen'.
Developing "faith" within the world of the 'seen', for many humans beings can be most challenging, yet can be mastered.
One might call this: Seeing is believing.
---------
Developing "faith" within the world of the 'unseen', for even fewer human beings is a more difficult task and very challenging, yet can be mastered.
One might call this: Surrendering is believing.
The world if filled with Illusion and holds many wonders. If man truly wishes to see these wonders, two tools are necessary.
1. Faith - enabling man to continue the journey.
2. Wisdom - enabling man to cut through the illusion within the world.
"Faith" is the creative tool given to humans, that allows a human being to truly 'see'.
That's my opinion, and that's what I think.
"Peace be always with you."

what you're talking about (regarding your family, the sun) is trust. you trust your family because they already proved that they will be there for you. you trust that the sun will rise tomorrow, because it proved to you when it rose yesterday. TRUST IS GAINED. FAITH IS BASELESS. when you say faith, even though you don't have a proof, or you can't see, you still believe. it's like faith in your partner that he/she won't cheat, although you cannot monitor what he/she is doing all the time. faith in god, although you haven't seen him yet.

Well, if you can see it you don't really need faith, do you? You've seen the sun rise in the morning, you've seen your loved ones rally around in time of need.
Seems to me it's the things you can't see that you need faith for. Which is where the controversy begins...
EDIT: Cindy dear, why are you yelling? :)

No, I don't agree. What you are describing about your family, etc. is more of an expectation, not faith. The bible says, faith is the evidence of things not seen.
Faith pertains more to those things we cannot see, and yet believe.

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for.
By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. - Hebrews 11:1-3
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. - Hebrews 11:6

Just because you have faith in something doesn't make it absolute. For instance...what if the sun didn't come up tomorrow? What would you call faith then?
- Pull My FingerLv 71 decade ago
Believing that your loved ones will be there for you and that the sun will rise tomorrow is inductive logic. It is a reasonable assumption.
Believing that there is a God because you can't explain the universe is just conjecture and completely unfounded.

Faith is believing what you know ain't so.
