Birman call name vs registered name?
I understand Birmans born in 2008 are named with the letter F? Is this for their call name or the registered name? Also wondering how the registered names work as far as how many letters are allowed? I know the first one is the cattery name, then whatever the new owner chooses. I owned a Shih Tzu years ago & his name was Paramount, after the breeder, then we chose King Renegade. His call name was Dusty. I believe we had either 26 or 30 letters to work with, including spaces. Is it the same for cats?

The names that begin with F would be the registered name. You can call a cat whatever you like.
I think it depends on which organization is handling the registration. Both of my Tonkinese were registered with different organizations. One used the cattery name, one didn't. I had about 30-35 letters and spaces to work with for both cats.
With the one, I was told the first name could not be a cattery name because the cat would no longer belong to them and I was not breeding my cat with another cattery. I had to add the name "Miss" to the front of her registered name to avoid conflict.
You'd just have to check with CFA, TICA or whomever.
