Why does disney limit cartoons to 3 seasons?
As a animator in the works i was disapointed when i heard about this, disney is a company id love to work for but not so much anymore. Kim Possible was one of my favorite shows on the channel and i heard they dumped the show mainly because of the 3 seasons policy and now that made the creators mad so they wont be making any more shows for disney... Well disney has always had a problem with this stuff and im just wondering why they keep doing it?
Nickelodean has had spngebob running for how long now? They are not going to make a policy like this and start dumping GREAT cartoons because of it, yet here is disney doing it like its nothing. That and disney has always messed with animation companys, pixar for example almost dumped them. I always praised disney for being a well run company but what is up with this 3 season policy?

Disney has a 65 Episode Rule that Michael Eisner and Frank Wells created back in 1984. They created the policy because they wanted to force the Disney Channel to continually have to come up with new shows instead of relying on the popularity of their existing ones no matter how popular the show may be when the 65th episode is aired. In addition to the fresh show idea, Eisner and Wells thought that cancelling shows early would also increase the sales of the episodes once they were released on home video as well as any subsequent movies based on the show. So basically they did it cuz they are money mongering wh*res. I think this is the stupidest policy ever implemented and can't figure out why Disney still sticks to it (for the most part).
There have been a few Disney shows that have gotten passed the 65 episode policy. Gargoyles and Kim Possible were both originally cancelled at 65 episodes, but the fans managed to petition for an additional season of each. Darkwing Duck, Timon and Pumbaa, Ducktales, Aladdin, Goof Troop and That's So Raven have all exceeded the 65 Episode Policy as well. A few other shows have also been slightly off from 65 Episodes and range from 62-67 episodes since the 65 is not set in stone.

oh i totally agree with you while i was reading what you wrote i was thinking about the shows on Disney and lilo and stitch popped in my head now how are they suppose to captor 625 experiments if they end everything at 3 seasons that's just stupid look how many 'land before times' there are i think that rule is a bunch of bull if its a good show why not keep it going and im sure the writers and artists for these Disney shows dont like the fact that there job is only 3 seasons longbefore they get the boot

Because the Disney "artists" (THERE'S an oxymoron!!!) only have enough creativity for 2. They can fake it for one more, then it is just too embarrassing to call it "Disney".
