Where can I get a doctor's note without actually seeing a doctor?
I called in sick to work today, but my employer told me that I would have to bring in a doctor's note. It was a really dumb move on my part, but I definitely wasn't expecting to have to go this far. Is there a way to print out a letterhead with a medical logo on it? Or is there a website I can go to for something like this?

It is common and quite legal for an employer to request verification of illness when an employee calls in sick. I know of many places locally which put out notices staing that if anyone missed work on Sunday or Monday (the day off and day after the Superbowl) without an excuse would be fired. It is also common for these requirements to be placed on employees who work over holidays to decrease employee absences.
If you print out and forge a certificate and they call to verify that you were seen (which you authorize by submitting the note) then you will likely be fired. In some states fraud is a reason the state can deny unemployment compensation.
I would be careful about downloading or printing a fake certificate. If you did, you would have to sign the note yourself, which is fraud.
I now have to secure my extra work excuse slips, as we had a book stolen and had calls to verify the notes. We now lock the pads up with our prescription blanks.

People walk in to the ER to be seen stating they are sick and after the doc sees them many will explain they missed work b/c of illness yesterday and today and if the doc or nurse is willing, they will write you a note. I work in an ER and people do get caught up on this all the time b/ c some employers will call and check. Many people check in when its busy get a braclet and leave w/o being seen and use the bracelet as proof. If I were you I would simply state that I do not need a medical excuse when I am not feeling well, nor do you have the money to run in and see a physician every time you are feeling under the weather. I hate when employers do this and I refuse to work in an enviornment that pulls this ****, it just sounds as though you don't trust me when I am confornted with this. Last resort maybe you know a physican well enough that you could call and ask his RN or doc for a note, explain the job situation and not have to be seen. Public health in the area you live in can possibly help you.

I don't think there is anything you can do. You could go to an after-hours urgent care clinic and have come vague complaint about migraines or something and get your note that way, but I certainly would not recommend lying. You could just tell your employer straight up that you were not feeling well but you did not feel sick enough to warrant a trip to the doctor, because most of the time they can't do anything for you anyway - especially if it's just a virus like a cold or the flu.

There are definite legal ramifications to using a website for printing doctor's notes. In at least one state (OH), its a fifth-degree felony, good for 6 to 12 months in prision and/or a $2,500 fine, I'd advise against it.

You wont get one from your doctor until after day five of sickness..if he feels you do need more time off.
So you are only legally bound to make a self certificate on your return to work.
Phone your boss up and say you went to the doctors but they said I have to self certify at this stage..and as I'll be back tomorrow cos I'm feeling much better is that ok with you????
The only time you would get a certificate from day one is if you had an operation or illness that your doctor felt if you returned to work it would not be beneficial to your health..
It is apparent that you have never had a doctors certificate..so don't even try to mock one up because..your boss would have seen many.
I think your boss is onto you..
