The Wii and it's use to encourage people to lead healthy lifestyles?
I've decided to do my dissertation on the use of the Wii to encourage people to lead a healthy lifestyle. I decided to do this topic after I heard that five schools in Worcestershire had bought a Wii in order to encourage pupils to come to PE class.
The trouble is, I need to do a literature review, and there's a distinct shortage of research into the subject, well...anywhere.
All that I've found so far is an article in the British Medical Journal about John Moore's University conducting experiments into how much weight one can expect to lose if the Wii is played frequently.
Does anyone know if anyone else has researched/conducted experiments into this topic? Or if anyone is actually researching it now? I'd much prefer the research to be published, but I really want to do this topic, so I'll take what I can get!
Thanks for your help,
Chris

I think that because this is a relatively new thing, you will be hard pressed to find alot of research and published literature right now. Especially something that has been peer reviewed, which essentially legitimizes a research project and published paper.
You might consider branching out and seeing if you can find any journal articles about ANY video system and their attempts to get people to exercise. I know in the '80's Nintendo had that dance game and pad you used.
Also, do your own controlled test. Set one up for different age groups and see what happens.
