Dear christian, why did god stop performing miracles?

What do you mean? He's still performing miracles!

I fell from an airplane, and my body was completely obliterated. There was no piece left bigger than a quarter, and the doctors all said I had less than a one in ten thousand chance of recovery. But God answered my prayers, and within a week I was up and walking, and today I'm completely recovered.

just because the simple man can not understand how something happens does not make it a miracle. Most stories today are checked out so miracles are hard to push on educated people. microbes and bacteria have always played a large role in health related miracles and lots of so called miracles where preformed as acts or just made up to suit something that could not be explained. just maybe it was a miracle the columbus didn't fall off the edge of the flat earth. and just maybe it was a miracle that the sun starting going around the earth instead of being dragged up every morning and pulled down every evening Whoa lots of miracles too little time

I think maybe you have been duped or do not understand that times and phenomena change.

Maybe things were not so much as they seem to your eyes and mind now, but how they seemed to the people back then maybe more important than denial.

There are still miracles, but now we understand more cause and effect.

A rain of frogs could conceivably be from a tornado, whirlwind, or hurricane picking up creatures and objects and letting them fall again.

I do not think the world stopped rotating but if you wish to believe that, by all means let yourself be credulous.

I can tell you there are still miracles, if you have eyes to see, ears to hear, and you let yourself look and listen and use your other senses.

One miracle is my comrades and I entered two war zones and fought, worked, lived, and enjoyed the miracle of life, to return unharmed; not a single man was injured any more seriously than a scratch on the upper arm. We were ambushed three times. During one of those ambushes men from units in front of us and in back were killed or injured, but though I saw bullets go close and near to the left, almost to touching them, not a single one of us was hurt.

I do not know but I thank G-d for every day. Just to be able to breathe, to be able to move, to see, to hear, to taste, to smell, to touch, these are little miracles for which I am happy and grateful, even when I do not always understand why me? why not me?

Miracles or "signs and wonders" worked really well to get people's attention and even to survive several generations through oral history before the modern advances that you outlined above. They transcended languages, cultural boundaries, illiteracy, etc.

But now, as you state, we have the Bible, the inspired infallible Word of God, which has been preserved for thousands of years, and translated into every language, with easy access to laypeople and clergy alike. There are even Bible databases on the internet with seach engines and other translation and study tools. This method, along with the "preaching" of the Word, is the method that God has chosen to deliver the gospel during the Church Age.

God doesn't want or need there to be irrefutable proof or scientific evidence of His existence, power, or truth. That's where faith comes in. "Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God." (back to my first paragraph). Like Mulder and Scully used to say, "The truth is out there", meaning the evidence of God is there all around us in nature, and even in the technological advances of man with the brains God gave us, for those who are willing to open their hearts and their spiritual eyes and experience His presence.

However, if you want more "signs and wonders", you may yet live to see some in the Last Days, although hold on tight, because these signs and wonders will be demonstrating God's judgment and wrath rather than His grace and mercy.....personally I am praying for a Pre-Tribulation Rapture because I'd just as soon not stick around on the earth for any of that!!

If you are truly seeking to know that God is real, pray that He will reveal Himself to you, and be open to the "still small voice" as well as "the whirlwind"!! Read God's Word with an open heart and allow His Holy Spirit to lead you into all truth.

He stopped doing miracles on such a grand scale since those miracles are no longer necessary.

Miracles still happen, every single day. Do you watch the news?

He hasn't stopped. He only preforms the necessary ones. There is no reason for frog rain, parting a sea or stopping the earth's rotation.

Jesus is God's Son in a human form. He is Divine and heavenly because he came from Heaven to do His mission here on Earth and He was given all human characteristics by His biological mother, Mama Mary. He has all human characteristics except sin. Jesus, as the Bible says, is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. In short, He is 3-in-1. =) Not all things in the Bible should be taken or understood literally, but the words there represent other things. Thats why experts are trying to "unlock" what the "mysteries" of the Bible really mean. It's also good to know how you are interested in God and/or Jesus I hope I helped you! =) =) =)

Perhaps he stopped the obvious ones because people stopped believing. I mean, if someone rubs spittle in someone's eyes today and suddenly they see, we'd all be going, "Yeah, right...RIGGED!"

He still performs miracles, but in more believable ways to today's generation, such as....you're going broke and have no food, and suddenly someone hands you a $ 200 check, or your car breaks down with a flat tire or so, and suddenly someone suddenly comes along that just so happens to be a mechanic, or wants to change the tire for you.

Believing is what makes it all happen.

That's why I say the big miracles stopped because, we humans...being the superior beings we think we are, STOPPED BELIEVING in those kinds of miracles.

maybe because faith is what is important here, not written, scientific proof- however the Bible to me is proof- and you ask why miracles are not happening like they used too- do you think that maybe it is because we have quenched God's Spirit to the point that when people say- "there are no miracles today"- that God is waiting to see faithful people believe again? Just a thought.

Smith Wigglesworth (1859 - 1947), raised several people from the dead including his own wife on three separate occasions. Wigglesworth didnt have the power, God does and because of Wigglesworth faith in God he was able to do these miracles. Just as God gave his disciples in the New Testiment to do miracles.

Miracles, Great, Amazing Miracles are still happening today!

Well they did happen. I know you don't want to hear it, but miracles happen every day. Think about the crazy miracles of airplanes skidding out of control on the runway and no one being injured. How about when an earthquake hits California and there are only a couple injuries and no deaths? You don't see them because you don't look for them.
