Since there is NEVER any violence on nude beaches or at nudist camps, unless a nut wanders in and that would be
a rarity, isn't it clear that unnecessary provocative clothing is what inspires men to go wild and exercise their superior physical power? In fact, the clothing needn't even be provocative, but because there is a challenge to a man telling him "Here is some candy, but you aren't allowed to see any more than I choose to show you, you miserable schmuck." No wonder men get violent in a world where people wear unnecessary clothes even when the weather is perfect.

Lilly, I don't quite agree with everything you say, but I think your point is an excellent one.
I think in the U.S, we have a fairly puritanical culture and like to see things in black and white, so it's convenient to say nudity is always worse, always more wrong, always more provocative, etc.
As a photographer, I think the reality is most naked bodies are really not all that sexy or provocative. As a photographer, it's my job to take a nude body that really isn't inherently attractive and portray it in such a way that makes it look either sex or in my case artistic. Most people who go to nude beaches to gawk and think seeing nude people will be an erotic experience are usually disappointed to find it is not. We associate nudity with being provocative, sexy or pornographic because that's how it's usually presented in our media, not because it's reality.
I also think it's the attitude more than the dress. Actions set the tone, but someone wearing clothing has more accessories to compliment their actions than does someone who isn't.

Keep in mind, a nudist colony is a very controlled and specific environment made of clients who go there of their own volition knowing the rules and once they are there, adapting to their environment. You could easily say that of any organization like a chess or tennis club. But nobody would suggest that those activities inherantly determine their behavior. You just happen to have a bunch of geeky non-violent people participating in them. Thats a false assumption to suggest that their clothing had anything to do with their behavior.
While it is true that clothing leaves some things to the imagination, (and some you wouldnt want to imagine) violent or rapist behavior cannot be blamed on inanimate objects. PEOPLE committ violence. PEOPLE rape. Ive never once been charged and attacked by someone because I was wearing a red shirt. We're not animals and we're not so primal.
Jesus taught that true sin comes from the heart. And you can no more stamp out violence and rape by removing clothing anymore than you could hope to stamp out poverty by putting up totem poles.

Lilly W............ Your reasoning just don't cut it. A person should be able to wear what a person wants, with out any one thinking it's an open invitation to be raped, or sexually enticing anyone. I certainly don't think that little girls dress sexy to entice perverted, sickos to kill, and rape them, any more then a grown woman. That's like saying Jon Benet was asking to be raped and killed for her dressing habits, or most of these they are finding raped and killed today. I don't care if it's a prostitute, if they say no! that's exactly what they mean. How would my naked penis hanging while i walk on a nudist beach stop some perverted male that likes men ,stop him from doing the same to me with force? Would it then be my fault that i had an enticing penis that caused it? Maybe the size, my butt? MY Candy, and your candy is ours, and that's not an open invitation for anyone unless i decided it is. I have nothing against nudist, it wouldn't bother me one bit to be a nudist. I also have nothing against people and the way they dress, as i also dress the way i like. Sorry i just don't agree. Those who commit these act, or think of them are the ones that have the problem, and should not be allowed in public.

So you propose the beaches should have areas where only dressed people go and the rest of the world should just go to the beach "au naturel"?
Also society should have designated areas for people that wear clothes? Have you considered that it might be an eye sore to see some folk in their birthday suit?
Maybe you can write a book about such an imaginary planet?

You evidently missed that brawl in Jamaica several years back. I was there, and after 8 ambulances took away the injured and the police arrested the instigators, the net toll was over a dozen teeth lost, 7 broken limbs, and over 1000 stitches. All charges were eventually dropped.
Moral of the story.....don't take video equipment to a nude beach.

You should watch the movie Human Nature. It deals with what you are talking about. Also, it was written by Charlie Kaufman who also wrote Being John Malcovich, Adaptation, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

NO, that happens rarely, pointing to a problem that is in some men, not all, and that needs to be dealt with else it will show somewhere else, a possibility you discount, which is to me Pollyannish. Read George Gilder's Men and Marriage. Only a woman would say what you said. No offense.

What a strange question for R&S!
Its normally alcohol that "inspires men to go wild and exercise their superior physical power" or that they are a "nut".

From the nudist colonies I have witnessed, I am convinced that they would be a deterrent to rape.
I tell you my reaction to 50 year old naked people is anything but sexual.

That's a good point.
Actually- sexy clothing is often much more titillating than nudity.
Ahh- the imagination is a wonderful thing.
