What age to bring baby into the pool with me?
I have a 6 month old, and we recently moved to a house with a pool. Of course we will be very careful with him. The pool is chlorinated with a salt chlorinator and is kept very clean, but I worry about the chemicals or possbilitiy of bacteria or something in the pool. Is there any sort of guideline for when it's okay to expose a baby to poolwater?

I think it's perfectly safe. I would give baby a good rinse after he gets out though since the chlorine and other chemicals can dry out the skin. Have fun!!!

Just be careful how much chlorine is in the pool. They're finding out that chlorine is not a good chemical for us to be exposed to. Other than that I would think 6 months would be fine age to expose your baby to the pool. Please be aware of pool safety for your children.

I took my kids in at 6 months. Just keep it short and pay attention to his cues, see if he is comfortable and is better to hold him that use a floater. Make sure to put on a lot of sun block and a hat as well. Pay attention to sun glare, because it will hurt his eyes. So you may want to get a pair of baby sunglasses. My kids loved the water. Just make sure it is not to cold and give him a bath when he is all done with the pool to remove any residue from the skin. And of course never take your hands or eyes of him. Good luck and have fun!

My son was 3 months old when he first went in, I think the main thing is to make sure and wash their skin after getting out of the chlorinated water. Use mild baby soap to cleanse the skin and you should be just fine! My little guy loved the water and still does - we just make sure to wash all of the chlorine off of his skin and hair afterwards.

You need to take the baby to mommy and me swim classes. They can teach a baby to swim at six months the water as long as it is clean won't hurt them. But falling in a pool is worth the lessons. I know my son fell in at age three but I got to him before he drown. You can always be careful but believe me it only takes a minute for the child to fall in they don't see any danger. Good Luck with your new house and your child.

my nieces and nephews were swimming in pools at 4 months. i wouldn't say there is any problem as long as the chemicals are right in the pool.. my daugher will be 6 months on the 1st and i can say that i would put her in a pool.. and i will as soon as the weather is right! ;)

I think your safe, my baby was 7 months old when we put her in the pool, only because of the time of year. Otherwise she would have been in sooner. She loves the water!

Mom and tot swim lessons start at 3 months old, so anytime after that is good.
Get an infant life vest. I bring my little guy in the bathtub with me and at first it was hard to hold onto him all the time.
Good Luck and have lots of fun!

i took my son swimming with me when he was about 5 months (just old enough to sit in the floater seat alone.) i NEVER left his side while he was in the pool, and he really seemed to enjoy it. also, my baby is a red head... i used spf 50 on him, but i think for darker complected babies you can use spf30.
my biggest peice of advice for you is to get a gate for saftey. as soon as your baby can crawl they can sneak way and find the pool. the safest thing is to get a gate with a very high latch/lock.
have fun!!!!! :)

I think that you're good. My little cousin went into his family pool when he was like 4 months old.
