  • Anyone have a Coronado PST Solar Telescope?

I've been thinking of buying a Coronado PST solar telescope, but I'm really not sure what to expect as far as performance. Can any current owners run down the pros and cons for me? Thanks in advance.

  • Intakes for pool water features unsafe! How to fix?

My IG pool has two water features - a waterslide and a waterfall - both are meant ot be used while the pool is in use, and both take their water from the pool. The problem is, they have powerful intakes right near the waterline that could catch a person's skin - for an adult it would be painful, but for a small child it could be very dangerous. I've searched the web for some sort of intake cover that would allow it to function safely (like a screen), but no luck. If anyone has suggestions, I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

  • Keep birds from nesting in my grotto?

I have a swimming pool with a waterfall over a grotto. Several birds have made nests in the grotto, so the grotto is unusable and we get bird waste in the pool. Once the birds have moved on, I want to make sure they don't come back and nest next year. Any suggestions? Would one of those plastic owls nearby scare them off, or do I have to put up some sort of barrier?

  • Swimming pool main drain - how to tell if its pulling water?

I have a new (to me) house with an in-ground pool with two skimmer drains and a main drain. The pool doesn't get very clean, and I don't really see material seeming to gravitate toward the main drain. Should all of the water intake be done via the skimmers, or should the main drain be pulling as well when the pump is on? How could I test for sure? Thanks in advance!

  • 9 month old plays with everything BUT toys?

I was hoping some of the more experienced parents out there might have some suggestions. My 9 month old is crawling fast now and he's into everything. He's lost all interest in his toys (he has awesome toys) and is completely focused on remotes, phones, the laptop - basically anything that isn't a toy. Does anyone know any good tricks for giving him objects that are safe but will hold his interest at this stage? Thanks in advance.

  • Pool water loss?

My pool guy says my pool may be losing water. Should I be very worried that the water will get into my house's foundation? My house is slightly downhill from my pool.

  • Question about swimming pool vacuum hookup?

I'm kind of new to pool care, here - I'm confused about how to hook up my pool vacuum, and I've read conflicting instructions. I have a pool vacuum head and a hose. Do I hook that up to the pool sweep itself, or to the outlet\port on the pool that the pool sweep connects to? Thanks in advance.

  • What age to bring baby into the pool with me?

I have a 6 month old, and we recently moved to a house with a pool. Of course we will be very careful with him. The pool is chlorinated with a salt chlorinator and is kept very clean, but I worry about the chemicals or possbilitiy of bacteria or something in the pool. Is there any sort of guideline for when it's okay to expose a baby to poolwater?

  • Using Netgear powerline Wired\Wireless devices together?

I have the Netgear WGXB102 Powerline Wireles Range Extender, and it works great. I'd like to also use the Netgear XE102G Powerline Ethernet (wired) to connect to my downstairs room. Has anyone used these devices together?

  • Getting a 5 month old to drink Pedialyte?

Hi - I have a 5 month old boy, and he's got a bug that's going around, with diarrhea and loss of appetite. We have taken him to his doctor twice, and we're doing everything she says. My question is - is there any easier way to get a baby to drink Pedialyte? He HATES it and spits it out when given by bottle or syringe, but he needs it to stay hydrated. If anyone has clever method, it would really help us out. Thanks in advance.

  • 5-month-old waking up for food twice a night?

My 5-month-old son wakes up twice a night for feedings, and I was wondering if there were any ways to reduce this. We don't mind feeding him overnight and we want to do everything for him, but we're wondering if there's a way to work it so he can sleep right through. He's eating rice cereal before bedtime, but gets bottles when he wakes up. Feeding him generally gets him right back to sleep, in fact he rarely opens his eyes through the entire process! So, it seems to just be that he wants food, not that he's sleepless or bored or anything like that. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

  • Why is the enery bill at my new house so high?

My wife and I just bought a new house - it's in the same basic region and has the same utility companies as the old house, but the energy bills are nearly double! The gas bill is high, but electric is even higher. I think it's mostly the extensive yard lighting that is on 4 hours every night (the previous owners put it in, and we're having trouble getting it to shut off and yet still be able to use our front steps safely at night), but my wife isn't so sure. Does anyone have any idea what the drain could be? We're not being wasteful, and I don't think it's the heating, because that's done with the gas part. Thanks!

  • Pool care - someone suggested saline?

I just bought a house with a pool, and I've never had to take care of a pool before. Someone suggested that saline is an environmentally friendly alternative to chlorine. Does anyone have any experience with saline?

  • Crying after returning from daycare?

This was our boy's first week in daycare. He's 11 weeks old, and is generally a happy baby who only cries for a good reason. The daycare facility is very good, and he seems fine when he's there, but when he gets home, he has an hour-long frantic crying jag. He doesn't seem to want rest, food or anything else - he just wants to cry, which is odd for him. Does anyone have a suggestion for alleviating this, or has anyone had a similar situation?

  • Paint Sprayer - Use linseed oil for storage?

A neighbor of mine recently said that he runs linseed oil into his airless paint sprayer to keep it from getting clogged while it's not being used. Does anyone have any info on whether this is a good idea? Could it potentially hurt the sprayer?

  • Boston Pops brawl - why do people insist on talking in theaters?

Turns out the brawl at the opening night of Boston Pops was caused by somebody who wanted to talk loud through the whole show, then punched the man who said "Shh!" Can anyone explain why people buy a ticket for up to $100, then want to jabber over the music (or movie or whatever) and annoy others?

  • God of War 2 - get past the Horse Keeper?

Hi - On Titan mode, I'm having a very difficult time getting past the Horse Keeper. I've keep fighting and fighting, but it just seems to go on and on. After the first set of minotaurs are dead, I attack with the bow and arrow and empty my magic, but more minotaurs keep coming. Each time I get magic, I use it to shoot arrows at him, but I've battled as many as four sets of minotaurs (so a total of 8) and I haven't managed to get the circle icon on the horse keeper yet. Am I doing something wrong? Help! Thanks!

  • Solar power - how much does it cost?

Let's say you had a 2000 sq ft home in a temperate area (let's say Baltimore, MD) - if you wanted the system to pay 3/4 of your energy bills - how much would it cost, within $5000? I'd appreciate the help.

  • How can the universe be 93 billion light years across in size, if it is only 13.7 billion years old?

Physics tells us that the relative speed of two objects cannot exceed the speed of light, but I just read that the universe is estimated to be 93 billion light years in size. If the universe is 13.7 billion years old, how can the universe have expanded to that size without exceeding the speed of light?
