is it normal for my cat to wake me up around 6 and constantly jump on the bed until i get up?
he wants me to walk with him to his food bowl. his sister never does this and he always does this.
they already have food in their bowl from the night before usually, so i just walk in to the kitchen he starts eating and then he'll usually let me sleep after that

Aren't cats wonderful??? I just love the little routines that they feel are important. At night my cats each sit on one side of the snk as I wash & brush my teeth. They sit there watching with little interest until I rinse the toothbrush--then they both are up & pacing, meowing & yowling. The next thing is that one drinks from the faucet while the other drinks from my mug. (Of course, right before we went in the bathroom, I filled their water bowl with fresh cold water.)When that's done they move on to eating, then join me in bed. So, yes, your cats are normal--they ARE cats!! Just enjoy them.

Sounds perfectly normal to me. Thankfully mine rarely does it early in the morning. At around 6 or 7 she likes to wake me so I can lift up the covers for her to snuggle under. If I haven't got up by 11.00 a.m., then the jumping up and down begins!
Source(s): I work in Theatre, so am rarely home before 11.30p.m. and unless rehearsing, don't need to get up early in the morning. My cute kitty follows my routine. - 1 decade ago
my cat is the same 6 oclock every morning she brings to me bits of food or her toys. 1 or 2 mornings she will just come for a cuddle. which now i think is cute but not so much at 6 am x

That's exactly what my cat does except he does it at 4:30 in the morning. So I would say it's normal since he's been doing it for 14 years......

Oh my for sure. Cats are early morning (sunrise) and evening creatures. That's when they hunt in the wild. Some cats will do this and some don't. It's best to ignore him and he'll eventually stop.

Cats are like people in that they have their own unique quirks. It seems your little guy is just on his own schedule. And he knows that if he keeps jumping on the bed, you'll eventually respond and get up. Try not getting up when he wants you to and see if he takes the hint.

yes it is because htey just want to play and are very playful cats;just throw a ball once and go back to sleep.
If you don't want him coming into your room, use this spray:
believe me, i have the same problems and i totally agree with you, it's annoying!
The thing that I do to prevent her from going anywhere where i don't want her to is spray a spray that cats don't like called:
Fooey
It's extremely bitter tasting.
It reduces chewing, iting and licking behaviors.
It's for dogs, cats, horses, ferrels, caged birds, rabbit and rodents.
but, you can't apply this diretly to dogs and cats.
this is so cool! i think that it works well, here are some things that it does!
For Household objects like furniture, walls, wires, shoes and lothing, it reduces chewing and biting by dogs, CATS, horses and rabbits. All you have to do is test for colorfastness or staining. Spray it affected areas until moist and then you repeat as needed.
For wounds or bandages it deters licking, biting and chewing by horses, rabbits, and ferrets. do NOT apply ON dogs or CATS. BUT, make sure not to apply directly to the wound. and don't get in eyes! ouch!
For affected areas on cages birds, it reduces feather picking and biting by caged birds.
For wooden objects for example fencing, gates, stables, stalls etc. It reduces chewing by horses! You just have to apply spray until area is thorougly wet.
For poisonous and omamental plants, it reduces chewing and nibbling by dogs, cats, and horses and i think oh yeah, rabbits. Test for leaf damage prior to application. Then, you should spray on foliage until lightly needed.
You know, isn't that cool?
whoever invented that, cheers!

Yes, that's normal. My kitties will meow at me til I get up and feed them.
When they bring out a baseball bat to wake you, that's not normal and you should start wearing a helmet to bed.

yep.. all of my cats have done this and just to me because I am the one who feeds the animals. My cat nips my legs and even if I move my legs he goes under the cover to continue so needless to say I just get up and feed him!
