Question from my Boyfriend...?

Question

He has a '86' Dodge shortbed pickup that is having problems with the motor, and he also has a '65' Plymouth Baracuda with no motor. His question is which one should he fix up? He loves both vehicles, he has had the dodge for 2 years and he has had the baracuda for a few months this time, but has had it before and traveled with the carnivals for about 30 years (give or take a few years) I told him what I thought , but like any other man, my opinion about vehicles doesn't matter. Just in case you wanted to know, I told him to fix them both, fix the dodge now and work on the baracuda later, since it is older and he wants to use it for shows.

To Doctor Know it All, After 11 years of alot of ups and downs, I haven't got rid of him yet, I don't think he is going any where but home.

I would fix the barracuda. No matter what he puts into it, he will get it back if he ever does decide to sell it. Parts are becoming harder to find and the longer he waits the more they will be.

The Dodge on the other hand is not a highly desirable truck. He should sell it and get something else to drive.

He will regret it if he gets rid of the car.

If he doesn't plan on selling either one of them, get the truck fixed for his basic transportation.

I'd say both also but do which ever one is easiest first. That way he'll have something to drive and feel good about in a shorter period of time. The 'Cuda however, will ultimately be the better investment. Restored it will be worth a good bit, price depending on how accurate the restoration is. Can't say the same for the pickup. An '86 Dodge pickup just doesn't spark that much interest in the market.

well definetly both, no question about that. now the truck has a motor with some problems and the cuda has no motor so it would be better to fix up the truck first, easier and quicker. wanna take ur time on the cuda make it just the way you want, perfect. and besides after you fix the truck you can use it going to the parts store for the cuda =P

I agree with you.  Get the pickup running right for reliable transportation first.  A good show car normally takes time to get it just right and can be a really nice project over time.  Besides you might want the truck to tow the 'cuda to the shows to keep the miles down.  You can't do that if it isn't working.
