I believe that the Model 25 is a .25ACP handgun. It is not offered in a .22lr chambering.
You are talking about the Taurus model 22 series.
If you are thinking of personal defense with this I cannot reccomend it. You need something bigger.
If you are thinking of a gun to learn shooting on I would suggest the Ruger MKIII with either the standard frame or 22/45 polymer frame.
(I would reccomend the Browning Buckmark as well but the price point is quite a bit higher on the Browning while I feel the ruger is right on step with the quality of the browning.)
The Taurus and Ruger 22/45 both run about the same price ($240) and the ruger is miles above the taurus in both quality and customer service.

Are you buying it because its inexpensive, or is there a particular reason to buy a defense gun in .22 LR. A 2 inch barrel doesn't even make a good plinker. On the other hand, if a .22 is all you can handle (many of my students were so recoil sensitive that that was as good as it gets for them), its sure as heck better than a brick. For defense, you'll need to carefully study the "critical T", as that's where you want to place any shot, but especially a .22. Go over the gun with a fine tooth comb. 3 to 5 years ago, Taurus revolvers were absolutely plagued with problems, although recent production is fine. The price is reasonable.

Taurus quality runs hot and cold. Some are great firearms, some are not so great, and sometimes quality control goes down the toilet. In example, I had a shipment of new taurus .357 revolvers come into the shop about 8 years ago. They had misdrilled the cylinders on all of them, drilling at the flutes rather than in between them. They do have a lifetime guarantee, but turn around time, the last time I sent a pistol in for repair, was 3 months. Check it over closely, before you buy, if you get one of the good ones, you will swear by it, if you get one of the bad ones, you will swear AT it!! ;0)
shoot safe

most taurus are great but that particular model sucks, I just got rid of mine, I had to send it back to taurus a couple of times, the rails that the slide moves on deformed and also they are very inaccurate.

While I don't own that specific Taurus, I have several others. All are very good guns and have given me no problems at all.

Taurus's are ok, they are not by any means top of the line but they are not bad.. I had a taurus knockoff of the beretta 92 and never had any trouble with it.
