Not sure what to do?

I'm getting married on June 21 2008. I have no problem with keeping on the dress for the reception, it's the part afterwards. My fiance and I are thinking about staying at a hotel an hour away from the reception. Not to mention it would put us closer to our new home ( which would be 6 hrs away). Has anybody stayed in their wedding dress until they reached their hotel destination? I wouldn't have a problem if the hotel had the rooms on the outside, but since the rooms are in the inside of the hotel (Hard Rock Casino and Hotel) I think I would feel a little akward walking in with a big wedding dress on.

why have you not seen a newly married couple arriving at a hotel before. don't worry about silly little things like that it will only spoil you day enjoy your wedding and if its such a big deal change at the reception before going to the hotel im sure where you are having your reception there will be some where you can change.

There's a sort of old fashioned tradition of the bride changing into a 'traveling outfit' (usually a pretty dress or suit) before leaving the reception to start her honeymoon, or whatever. If you feel like you'd be uncomfortable traveling in your gown, or if the thought of walking into the hotel and being the center of attention fills you with dread, why not see if there's someplace at the reception where your bridesmaids can help you change - if nothing else it gives you an excuse to buy another new outfit!

Hey, if it's the Hard Rock Casino and Hotel in Vegas, you could make money wearing your dress! It's custom to pay the bride in her dress a small "fee" for a kiss of good luck. Don't worry about feeling awkward, the last time I went to Vegas, there were brides everywhere, in every casino, in all their wedding gown glory. Be proud, not embarrassed!

I Kept my dress on and my husband kept his tux on. The rooms were all inside. We got all kinds of comps and perks because people saw us in our wedding attire not to mention a bunch of congratulations. Some older couples that were checking in even gave us some cash as a wedding gift. I would say keep it on. Plus it means less stuff you have to have at the reception and changing in a bathroom isn't the easiest thing to do when changing out of a wedding dress.

This is why we stayed at a bed and breakfast, literally around the corner from our reception. We walked there. I drove quite a distance from my ceremony to my reception and I was fine. You can change or not, whatever you prefer. However, where will you change and who will take your dress for you? I wouldn't feel akward walking in in my gown, people treat newlyweds really well.

If it's physically comfortable to wear for the drive, I'd love to walk into the hotel wearing my wedding gown! Once I put my dress on, I really didn't want to take it off!

I'm in the same situation. (same wedding day too!!!) What i've planned to do is that after we leave the reception we're going to go a friends house that lives close to the reception site and i'm going to change into comfier clothes for the drive. Congrats!!

I'm sure the hotel has seen tons of wedding dresses walk through its halls. It's going to be no big thing. I know it's awkward for you, but it doesn't matter what anything else thinks of your dress. They know you got married and can only be excited for you. Any negative judgment is just more reason for you to feel better about yourself and your marriage.

Oh, let everyone know you are the Bride - and you will give them JOY by seeing the two of you!! People love to see married couples in their finery.

But there's nothing wrong with you changing before the trip if you want to...

I would love to make a grand entrance in my gown. Lots of people will be there from formal to jeans, so go and continue the fun of being the focus of attention, it only happens once....hopefully. Congrats
