Do you need a Maincoon specialized vet?
While trying to find a new Vet we've been told that Maincoon are just like normal cat and you don't need specific knowledge in order to threat them. But is this true or they just want our business?
The Maincoon is somewhat special (in size and behavior) than normal cat. Their development is slower (reach their full size at 3 years old) and have significant physical differences. We have a 4 month old Maincoon who's breathing 30 times a minute when sleeping but he plays and run normally (even more than our other cats at his age). The vet was vague on the prognostic and was suprise about his weight (7pounds) which we think is normal. So should I try to find a Vet specialized in Maincoon or it really ain't that different from a normal cat

they dont need a special vet ! and i doubt you would find one anyway, a vet wouldnt specialize in a certain breed.
If you are not happy witht he vet you are using have alook round for a differnet one.
Maine Coons arnt any different to any other breed, they are not known to have major problems like Bengals

It's a cat. Maincoon is the breed; not species of cat. That's lik asking do a need a vet that specailizes in Labadors. Maybe you just need a differnet vet that is more in depth with his findings.

Maine Coons are just one breed of regular cat.. unfortunately many are inbred and have more health problems than a mixed breed domestic cat.. however this does NOT require a special vet...
do not support the breeder you got that cat from - clearly the breeder is not good.. a kitten should not be experiencing health issues already..
if it was from a pet store - well that explains it all.. they sell the lowest quality pets at stores...
