How does one become an Emergency Room Technician?

I am trying to get some healthcare experience (Mass) and one thing I came across was ER-T. Not many sites were specific and often, emergency medical technicians pop up instead.

Could anyone tell me what I have to do to qualify to become an ERT and how long the training usually is? If I become certified in one state, does it carry over to another state?

Update:

feel free to add even more details and thank you for answering!

Check with you local community college, here is missouri we have a emt class that last 8 weeks and then the paramedic course last 1 year. If you complete the emt class then you can apply for a hospital job on the er. I worked in a hospital for 10yrs and i can tell you its a burnout. Make sure that you have a plan to move on the more education so you can make more money and move into something that's not a dead end job.

Well it seems like you blew your chance in college, which is obviously the easiest way to become an ERT. There are also medical schools who over charge you for a two year course, which would get you in the door. Also, if you don't even know how to start begining to become an Emergency Room technician, you should'nt pursue it. Knowing how to gain information and use it is a basic sign of intelligence. It would possibly be dangerous if you pursued this, as the first place to ask such a question would be either college, or a hospital.
