What is the right religion for me?
I realize I have a spiritual gap in my life, but my complex lifestyle makes choosing a serious religion very difficult. I need a religion that doesn't frown on heavy drinking and promiscuity, but still gives me that feeling of belonging to a group.
Hedonism is actually a personal philosophy, not a religion, and hedonist don't usually do group events since everyone is just concerned about thier own welfare.

why would you seach for religion? all your trying to do is fill a gap. are you going to just choose one that sounds good and believe in it? well then ill make something up thats sounds really great if you warship me.
if you do so:
first off you start off with 15 sin forgivness points. you can earn more by doing good deeds. my hell is an ok place. its a little boring but nothing like fire and pain. and if you serve enough time and im convinced your good you go to heaven. heaven is your own small town with every person you would ever want there and noone you wouldnt want there. unlimited suppy of your favorite foods and the tv and radio always plays just the right thing. all you have to do is live a moral life on earth and your good. no need to pray or anying...go ahead..say my name in vain...like I care? Im The Don.

To be honest my friend I had similar issues and struggled too when I was seeking where my faith would go.
I was drawn to Chrisianity, but didn't think God would want a sinner like me and also felt that there was no way that I could just walk through the doors and change. Yet, looking at the options, I knew that there was no other way I could go.
I was fortunate to find a web site entitled "issues that make Chrisians squirm". It helped me understand what having a relationship with God was all about. It allowed me to give myself over to Christ and allowed me to continue living as me and not as some robot put into a tight little box. I must say that in time I settled down. I believe that God first took me as I was and gradually made changes within me once I trusted him and gave my life over to him.
That was over 10 years ago and although I am far from perfect, I am doing very well and the presence of God is in me and my life is so amazing.
I never really would have believed that I could feel this way.
Good Luck and God Bless

"I need a religion that doesn't frown on heavy drinking and promiscuity, but still gives me that feeling of belonging to a group." Actually, what you really need is a drinking buddy (or two)- someone who will accept your lifestyle and keep you company at the same time.

Your question is fundamentally flawed. There's no 'right religion for you' beyond the fact that there's a true religion. Logically only one (or none) of the religions (or world views) in the world can be true. It would be a pointless and silly idea to follow a religion that isn't true, so the only relevant question is, which is the true religion? If that religion frowns on heavy drinking and promiscuity you're going to have to face that.
Personally I'm convinced that Christianity is true.

Jedi if you want powers and a cool robe. Snake Handler if you want a cool robe. then there is hiindi if you want the power to change into different animals and a super cool robe. I don't know if Ninja is a religion but that would rock harder than the frickin Kiss Army.

That is a crazy question to post on here as you will have many different answers. Read up about the different religions through books and then chose the one which feels the most real and right for you. Don't let other people sway you, you must make your own choice.

INTRODUCTION
Islam is a Semitic religion, which has over one billion adherents all over the world. Islam means "submission to the will of God". Muslims accept the Qur’an, as the word of God revealed to His last and final prophet, Mohammed (peace be upon him). Islam states that Allah sent messengers and prophets throughout the ages with the message of Unity of God, and accountability in the Hereafter. Islam thus makes it an article of faith to believe in all the earlier prophets, starting with Adam, and continuing with Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David, John and Jesus amongst many others (may peace be on them all).
The Most Concise Definition of God:
The most concise definition of God in Islam is given in the four verses of Surah Ikhlas which is Chapter 112 of the Qur’an:
"Say: He is Allah,
The One and Only.
"Allah, the Eternal, Absolute.
"He begets not, nor is He begotten.
And there is none like unto Him."
[Al-Qur’an 112:1-4]
The word ‘Assamad’ is difficult to translate. It means ‘absolute existence’, which can be attributed only to Allah (swt), all other existence being temporal or conditional. It also means that Allah (swt) is not dependant on any person or thing, but all persons and things are dependant on Him.
Surah Ikhlas - the touchstone of theology:
Surah Ikhlas (Chapter 112) of the Glorious Qur’an, is the touchstone of theology. ‘Theo’ in Greek means God and ‘logy’ means study. Thus Theology means study of God and to Muslims this four line definition of Almighty God serves as the touchstone of the study of God. Any candidate to divinity must be subjected to this ‘acid test’. Since the attributes of Allah given in this chapter are unique, false gods and pretenders to divinity can be easily dismissed using these verses.
Thus, the ‘acid test’ cannot be passed by anyone except the One True God.
The following verse of the Glorious Qur’an conveys a similar message:
"No vision can grasp Him
But His grasp is over
All vision: He is
Above all comprehension,
Yet is acquainted with all things."
[Al-Qur’an 6:103]

you shouldnt just "join" a religion. you need to make a choice on what you actually believe in. everyone is going to tell you that their religion is the right one because they really believe that it is. truth is..... their is no one right religion. as long as you are following Christ Jesus. it doesnt matter what religion you are in. but usually Christ followers are called Christians, or Catholics.... Just pick up the bible and start reading
