Thomas, when he first saw the risen Christ, had called Him, "My Lord and my God!" At that time Thomas realized that Jesus, though Man, was far more than any man... There is only one God. Jesus, therefore, had to be that same God in human form.

The apostle John agreed with this. Guided by the Spirit (John 16:13). "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made (John 1:1-3). The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us..." (John 1:14).

Jesus had often shown that He was one with God the Father (John 8:58; 10:30, 38; 12:45; 14:7-9). He received "worship," which belongs to God alone (Matthew 2:11; 4:10; 14:33; 28:9, 17). He taught that all should "honor the Son just as they honor the Father" (John 5:23).

Isaiah had mentioned “God" being "born" to rule. "For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace... He will reign on David's throne...from that time on and forever" (Isaiah 9:6-7).

Isaiah (7:14) also mentioned that "Immanuel" (meaning "God with us") would be born of a virgin. According to the New Testament this prophecy was fulfilled through Mary, the mother of Jesus (Matthew 1:22-23). Before Mary was married God's angel said to her,

God is One, and yet show Himself as two persons, "Father" and "Son." In the Old Testament God showed Himself as two: LORD and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1-3). In that same Old Testament, God revealed that He would be born as "Son" (Isaiah 9:6-7). In all of this God assured us that He is One. God surely knows how best to reveal Himself to us. We accept Scripture's teaching that God is One, and yet is Father, Holy Spirit and Son.

Jesus said..."Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father" (John 14:9).

"He is the image of the invisible God" (Colossians 1:15). "The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of His being" (Hebrew 1:3).

Jesus said "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6).

Above all scripture verses reveal that Jesus is the GOD and the LORD.

To find support for the trinity,

< you have to go beyond what is written.

    < mistranslate God's word,

    < use improper English

The New Encyclopædia Britannica says: “Neither the word Trinity, nor the explicit doctrine as such, appears in the New Testament, nor did Jesus and his followers intend to contradict the Shema in the Old Testament: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord’ (Deut. 6:4). . . . The doctrine developed gradually over several centuries and through many controversies. . . . By the end of the 4th century . . . the doctrine of the Trinity took substantially the form it has maintained ever since.”—(1976), Micropædia, Vol. X, p. 126.

The New Catholic Encyclopedia states: “The formulation ‘one God in three Persons’ was not solidly established, certainly not fully assimilated into Christian life and its profession of faith, prior to the end of the 4th century. But it is precisely this formulation that has first claim to the title the Trinitarian dogma. Among the Apostolic Fathers, there had been nothing even remotely approaching such a mentality or perspective.”—(1967), Vol. XIV, p. 299.

In The Encyclopedia Americana we read: “Christianity derived from Judaism and Judaism was strictly Unitarian [believing that God is one person]. The road which led from Jerusalem to Nicea was scarcely a straight one. Fourth century Trinitarianism did not reflect accurately early Christian teaching regarding the nature of God; it was, on the contrary, a deviation from this teaching.”—(1956), Vol. XXVII, p. 294L.

(Romans 15:3-6) . . .” 4 For all the things that were written aforetime were written for our instruction, that through our endurance and through the comfort from the Scriptures we might have hope. 5 Now may the God who supplies endurance and comfort grant YOU to have among yourselves the same mental attitude that Christ Jesus had, 6 that with one accord YOU may with one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Honestly, i don't think there are any.

I asked a similar question before, and the *only* verse from the hebrew scriptures someone could offer was Isaiah 9:6 -- BUT, that verse reads TOTALLY different in the Tanakh than it does in the OT section of the christian bible, so that really isn't a verse supporting jesus being God.

Then, take in to consideration that Judaism, from which Christianity came from, teaches that no man is to be worshipped, and that the God of Abraham has no divisions, it makes little sense that Jesus was/is God.

  • I'll just say "jan" has a good answer. So I will just throw in a couple links.

Jesus is the son of God and part of the Trinity, the way the truth and the life that existed before all! The only one worthy to serve as the lamb of salvation that was sacraficed for all

    John 3

18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.

None, because he's not God. Showing that Jesus was clearly no ordinary person, an angel announced in advance his conception and birth, saying: “This one will be great and will be called Son of the Most High.” Notice that the angel said, not “God,” but “Son of the Most High.” Luke 1:30-32.

At thirty years of age Jesus presented himself to be baptized. On that occasion God’s own voice said: “This is my Son, the beloved, whom I have approved.” And so John the Baptist, who witnessed the event, said of Jesus: “This one is the Son of God.” Matt. 3:17; John 1:34.

Jesus’ apostles and friends repeatedly identified him in this way. Said Nathanael: “Rabbi, you are the Son of God.” (John 1:49) Peter exclaimed: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (Matt. 16:16) Martha confessed: “You are the Christ, the Son of God.” (John 11:27) The apostle John wrote so people might believe that “Jesus is the Christ the Son of God.” (John 20:31) And of the apostle Paul’s ministry it is said: “He began to preach Jesus, that this One is the Son of God.” Acts 9:20.

Did Peter, Paul, John or any other of Jesus’ followers preach that he was God? No, from these scriptures it is clear that they taught he was God’s Son. As 1 John 5:5 says: "And who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?"

None, in the sense of being Almighty God.

All over it shows that Jesus is the Son of the Almighty God.
