Why Do Democrat Candidates Want To Increase Taxes?

To push forward and try to finance their socialist agenda.

IMHO, nobody WANTS to increase taxes, but all incoming administrations, everywhere in the world, find themselves in a horrific position financially. Particularly if the previous administration spent 5 year lobbing $1M missiles at tents and empty caves in Afghanistan. 'Shock and Awe' costs, and now that the US has almost single handed broken the global economy, Inflation appears to be taking off, and one of the prime tools employed by economists is taxation.

I doubt very much that any of the candidates in either party want to increase taxes. The Federal reserve however, has recently lost its licence to print money granted to it by OPEC, now that the US$ is so unstable that the currency of choice for oil transactions, for an ever increasing number of of countries, is the Euro at the current rate of decline China is forecast to have a more powerful and dynamic economy. Unchecked inflation in the US could see Crunch nut Cornflakes could end up supplanting the once might Dollar, The UK has had the £6 ($12) gallon of gas for some time now. Whoever wins the election there will be lots of very powerful people screaming for tax increases. In the UK income tax stayed low while sales tax all but doubled, thus dumping directly on the least well off in society, including small children shopping for their candy

Taxes are way too low, and our government is already broke as a result - we cannot even defend our own borders anymore, much less fight a real war against a country like China.

We have been so busy playing World Police we have forgotten the fundamental rule to take care of security in our own borders.

Too many people have been paying little or no taxes for way to long. It's time to pay for all the rubber checks the Bush administration has been writing. That may hurt, but if it's not done the only option is the fall of the United States.

One side calls it raising taxes, the other side calls it closing loopholes and putting a stop to unfair tax breaks. Thing is, nobody is talking WHAT taxes and WHO will pay them. Unless you're among the richest 5% or so, then you don't have a thing to worry about. And unless you're already in the richest 10%, it's highly unlikely that you or your children ever will be -- so you'd be a darn fool to work against the best interests of people like yourself on the basis of some dream that you will someday be a member of the elite.

Wow! You managed to figure out and prove something everyone already knew. Way to go!

It is the most basic nature of the 2 parties. The Republicans are for smaller gov't. They tend to lower taxes, especially to the rich, and they also try to lower spending and decrease the size of the gov't. Democrats are for more social programs and for a bigger role by gov't. This means more taxes to pay for it all. Bush Jr is the exception to this rule as he has increased spending like no other before him. Every successful democratic nation needs to have this balance to keep it's democracy healthy. Sometimes you need your gov't to spend, and other times you need your gov't to lower taxes. Sometimes you need a hawk in Washington and other times you need a dove. If you ask me, taxes should be increased to the middle-class. I know it sucks but you really have no choice if you want things like health-care. Americans are notoriously unsympathetic to new,struggling immigrants and to the people in extreme poverty in their own country. You can't raise their taxes because they can barely get by as it is. To ensure that these people are given the same chances for health and education as the rich are, everyone must pay more taxes to improve schools and communities.

Is that the best horror story you can come up with involving the Democrats? I suggest you go back to the drawing board and come up with something alittle more scary to try to sucker in unsuspecting potential voters. Or better yet you can just keep it zipped and not make yourself look so silly.

Because Bush, the Republicans in Congress, and the war have bankrupted the country. Why else are bridges falling down, roads collapsing, 45 million people without health insurance, etc. etc. etc. We spend $12 billion a month on the war plus another $60 billion or more on other defense-related costs every month. The government wastes plenty of money on other items, too, and not all defense spending can be eliminated. But the U.S. can no longer afford to be the world's policeman, with the costs paid on a credit card. Supporters of the war and Bush need to explain how the country can afford the mess he's gotten us into.

Taxes:

Because Bush has nearly bankrupted the entire country, then he passed Major Tax cuts, mainly for his political buddies. The very ones who are making millions from Bush's War, of Weapons Mass Destruction, Oh I forgot,

Its freedom now, Oh no, its Democracy.

Therefore the USA, is in TROUBLE with whole world, money wise that is. Many don't want the dollar, they prefer the Euro, or did you forget, before Bush came to office, the Euro was .78 cents to the dollar, today the Euro is worth 1.57 cents to the dollar. With that said, we need more taxes to keep the dollar, otherwise, the dollars is or will be near--- WORTHLESS.

The Truth

They are trying to undo the the mess Dumbya has created.

The tax rates would reverse cuts made by the current admin. which gave enormous tax cuts to the rich - the richer the better the cut. Bush took a budget surplus and squandered it. He's now run up a debt that our children and grandchildren will be paying.

The tax increases are minimal for people making 31K and will affect those making over 100K the heaviest.

to pay the annual interest on the $9.4 trillion national debt and make up for the deficit budgets for three years in a row. gee, taxes have to go up so long as the wicked people populated the u.s. congress.

all that deficit spending can only happen when the wicked people in the u.s. congress approve the deficit spending.

what else can be done other than increase taxes and pay workers less? congress knows what is best for its little workers. they care about us, right? trust the u.s. congress and sleep well. nothing to worry about.

For the people that are TRYING to BLAME Bush and the Republicans ....

Democrats have to recognize that since the 73rd Congress in 1933, for a majority of the last 65 years, Democratic Houses of Representatives and Democratic Senates have CONTROLLED the nation and the President. A TOTAL of 38 Sessions with Democrats in CONTROL for 28 of those!

WE need to inform/TELL our political representatives that WE NEED TO PASS a Constitutional Amendment for the LINE ITEM VETO.

This will keep the SPECIAL INTEREST GARBAGE from being attached to valuable legislation.

IF your special interest is SO valuable, why do you have to HIDE it in valuable legislation?

So, with them REFUSING to PASS the Line Item Veto, in reality, the House and Senate have REALLY been controlling the country!!

AND, with the CURRENT Senate and Congress having the WORST approval rating in HISTORY, hopefully we will see a LOT of changes after the general elections.

A recent Reuters poll is out and Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid have pulled an upset: They have managed to make George Walker Bush twice as popular as CONGRESS.

THIS PAST WEEK - - JUST 13% of Likely Voters now say the DEMOCRATICALLY CONTROLLED Congress is doing a good or excellent job. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 43% give Congress a poor rating.

Those results represent a slight decrease from last month, when 15% gave Congress a good or excellent rating.

I have NOTHING against helping the elderly and the young.

I DO have a problem SUPPORTING the able-bodied people that do NOT want to get off of their butts and EARN an honest living - instead of "FEEDING" off of hard working citizens.

I feel the the people that "bought into" the Variable Rate Mortgage, Zero Down, etc., scams are just as guilty as the Lenders/Mortgage Brokers.

I feel like the Lenders/Mortgage Brokers should have their license and livelihood taken away - kind of like Bill being impeached and losing his law license.
