Answers Anime Club?

Alrighty folks. Since there seemed to be a lot of clamoring about how C&A is boring lately, and how people just keep asking the same crappy questions over and over again, I've thought of a little proposition for you. How about we start ourselves an anime club?

We can watch a new anime every week, and then be able to ask questions related to that series for that week. That way we can bring in some interesting new questions, but make sure everyone is on the same page.

First, say whether or not you are interested.

Second, give a reccomendation of which anime we should watch. There are some guidelines. though.

Pick just one series, and then describe "Why is this a good anime that people at C&A can watch?" You also have to make sure that this is a bit rarer anime. We want something most of us haven't seen. Also, while I'll accept reccomendations of anime you have seen before, I'd prefer it if you'd say something you've been WANTING TO WATCH.

Update:

How I will pick what to watch:

Number of thumbs up.

How rare a series is. (Even if it get's 1000 thumbs, it won't be Naruto...)

How good a review you made. (Give me more than just a name. Previews, awards, people, etc are all good)

How easy is it to find?

Oh, and also make sure it isn't longer than 26 episodes. At the moment we are doing 1 series a week. 500 episodes of Detectice Conan will kill people.

My suggestion.

Tweeny Witches (aka Mahou Shoujo Tai Arusu).

This anime looks like a superb piece of work. The actual animation is well above average, and looks breathtaking. The story itself seems epic. Also, this was produced by Studio 4C- probably the best animation studio ever. I've also heard very, VERY good things about it. Even from elitest anime watchers. Also, I know that pretty much no one on Answers has seen this, so it will be good for everyone. Plus this will be something to expand many of your horizens, and introduce you to more of Studio 4C's work

Update 2:

Whoops, forgot my video preview of Tweeny Witches: http://youtube.com/watch?v=O9AP0P9ZWSA

    I had been thinking of something like this before.

    I also don't know how well it would work, but it is worth a try.

    First off, I'd like to say . . . O.O I am very interested in Tweeny Witches now. The art style looks . . . so different, almost refreshing.

    I also agree with Ko Kyo Kuma, Welcome to the NHK! is one of my favorite anime. It is a great slice of life/comedy romance anime. Ko suggested we see the dub, which is good, since I only saw the very beginning of the first episode in English. It didn't sound bad at all. ^^ It's a highly enjoyable series

    I don't know how popular it is, but I hadn't heard of it up until a while ago. http://myanimelist.net/anime.php?id=1210

    Moyashimon is another series that has been on my plan to watch list for a while

    I really love this idea.

    It's a great way to get people to watch many different anime.

    My recommendation:

    Pet Shop of Horrors. I don't know if it's popular or not, usually when I ask people if thye seen it in anime forums, most say no.

    It's 4 episodes and they are easy to find on youtube, or veoh.

    It's about a mysterious man named COunt D who runs a pet shop in Chinatown.

    Each pet comes with a contract that has 3 terms, break one of the terms, and the count is not responsible for what happens.

    Horror ensues. The episodes are episodic and they are based on one manga chapter. My favorite manga chapter was turned into an episode so I was very pleased with that. It's called "Despair".

    I don't currently have any anime that I want to watch, so I'm suggesting one of my favorites.

    I think that is pretty interesting, I would love to join if u decide to start one.

    For the anime part... my favorite anime right now is Blood+ but thats 50 episodes so Im going to recommend Azumanga Daioh. It only has about 26 episodes.

    Basically the story is about the normal lives of high school girls including a 10 year old prodigy, a spaced out osakan, a completly hyperactive girl and her best friend, a "cool" girl that likes cats and so on. Its extremely funny I recommend it for anyone who loves humor and comedy .

    There. I think I made my point.

    I would be intrested. I love anime but I only watch one show right now. Its called Inuyasha and I know everything there is to know about it. I would recommend it and its not as popular as you would think, I know tons of people who never heard of it. Honestly, I never watched Naruto but I've been wanting too, and id like to hear what other people have in mind to watch. So you can keep me updated on this idea. But also i think that a week might be alittle too short for me to watch and get into an anime then swich. Maybe 2 weeks or something.

  • I don't really know about that.......it seems too organized for C&A- it'll get boring if we can only talk about one anime for a whole week.....

    Plus do you think all of us are responsible and organized enough to stick to that?? I know I'm not >.>

    I'm gonna get thumbsed down for that aren't I?

    Oh well I'm still gonna reccomend Yu Yu Hakusho- it's good cause it's an older series but it still has comedy and action and stuff......and it is really underrated so more people should watch it.....

    *Edit*

    Sorry....only 26 episodes then I pick Escaflowne!! 25 episodes!! It's an awsome older series that has action comedy and romance.

    Hitomi is a high school student who is trying to come to terms with a severe case of depression. When her spirits are at their lowest, Hitomi makes a psychic connection with Van, the young king of the nation of Gaia, located on another planet visible in the night sky of Earth. Gaia has been brought to the brink of war by the evil Black Dragon Clan, and, while the nearby nation of Abaharaki wishes to form an alliance with Gaia for their mutual protection, Van is a leader who prefers to act on his own. Hitomi finds herself transported to Gaia, where she becomes a valuable if unlikely ally to Van; as the Black Dragon Clan advances, Van discovers that Hitomi may hold the key to the magical dragon armor of Escaflowne, the weapon that would make Gaia invincable

    I haven't seen it but I thought that that was a good summary....

    Anway, for an anime to watch I would recommend Moyashimon. In my anime list it has a pretty good rating w/ 8.03. Not really that popular with only 1191 people that watched it. Very interesting since I never see that much anime that focuses in Science. Yeah very funny too.. hahaha hmm.. nevermind.. -_-" I've seen it and loved it, so you guys might like it too. If not, then I have a bad taste in anime then.

    The anime is pretty much about a boy that can see microbes.

    Hey! Don't laugh at the opening.. >=( It's actually good, but the OP and ending doesn't have an anime part.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Also, I haven't watched Zettai Shounen (Absolute Boy) yet, but I'm guessing you already watched it. Maybe the club is a great opportunity to watch it.
    Only 293 viewers and has a rating of 7.27. Although I wonder if that's a good rating.
    I'm interested in watching it..
    Yeah!! I think it's a great idea! I would definetly join anyway! I agree with you on the whole boring thing...
    Hmmmmmm- let's see, my recommendation would have to be Doujin Work. It's really funny! And it only has 12 episodes (each about 12 minutes long) so it's pretty short at that. I've only watched up to episode 2 ^^; but I like it!
