Call and talk about a payment plan. Most vets will accept a down payment for an emergency lacking funds. Other Animal Hospitals may even have a fund for just this kind of situation.

You can also try www.carecredit.com - most vets accept it. It similiar to a credit card, but is interest-free for 6 mos.

Call your Humane Society. They probably have to deal with this all the time, and can at least off suggestions.

Whatever you do, do it now.

    Hi Krystal,

You've gotten a lot of responses. Right now I can tell you that you do NOT need to be ridiculed - life can throw curveballs at you and I know you want to help your dog. Of course you wouldn't choose to be in this position.

Call your regular vet (for referrals) or a shelter. Animal shelters regularly spay and neuter and euthanize dogs and cats, sometimes as little as $10. I can tell you one thing:

DON'T DO IT YOURSELF. There's no way you can do it yourself without it being extremely cruel or illegal. The animal's comfort comes first, and because shelters can be very stressful, get a friend to help you drive to a shelter, take some treats and say your goodbyes. If your dog always wanted some chocolate or a big steak, now is the time. Your dog will be a lot happier than having to suffer.

Are you in the land of the free. The American dream ! ? Apple pie and the biggest and best ?

Here in the UK you can take any sick animal to the PDSA peoples dispensary for sick animals and just donate what you can afford.

Pet's are not just for RICH people the same way KIDS aren't.

(Stop giving this one a hard time here,as if watching a faithful old companion wither away slowly is not enough, your all stating the obvious and rather sharply with it) (well most)

Anyone can fall on hard times and in the present economic climate,it is no wonder !

We also have the RSPCA royal society for the protection and care of animals. If you let your dog or any animal suffer knowingly then you can and will be prosecuted.

I would sell anything ,do anything, borrow ,beg or steal to prevent any animal from suffering and especially one i have loved and am certain you will do that too.

What gets me about the judgmental approach is that HUMANS do not get the same protection, who do you know that was "put down"

My brother had pancreatic Cancer and asked, begged to be put out of his misery. But we do not do that for people.

    Strange that isn't it !

    My Father had stomach Cancer.

My Aunt had Cancer of the Vulva.

These three brave souls all suffered needlessly, yet we wouldn't knowingly allow that to happen to our pet's.

A very Strange breed is the Human Being.

Qiut beating this chick up about this. It is hard to go through this. Someone being on hard times can come and go in a matter of ays. We had a huge problem last month that had us counting change for milk. Once the problem was fixed we were fine. Would you rather her wait till she can get ahold of a bunch of money or help her dog stop hurting now???

Hon, have you called your vet? Some will help you out with this. They really don't like animals to suffer like this if it is possible to help. I was able to get my vet to come to my home put our 12 y/o Sheltie down and give our other 2 their shots and exams for $80 total. The part of the bill for our Sheltie was $35 And that was the doc and an assistant driving almost 45 mins to my house. THE SAME DAY I CALLED!

The SPCA would help as well. Call and tell them what is going on.

I hope you and your pup have the peace you need soon.

There are so many options for going to the vet if you can't afford it.

    1. Humane shelter

    2. Care Credit

    3. Loans

    4. etc...

The person who mentioned that you shouldn't have a pet if you can't afford one is right. Not to be mean, but if you love that dog you know it's the right thing to do by humanely euthanizing your dog. This is something that would cost about a dollar a day for 4 months on a payment plan. Your family can afford that, and if they can't they're just being cheap.

ok for all of you that have ridiculed the poor girl let me say....im an animal lover BUT i know what its like to come on hard times, my husband is in the military and there have been times due to paperwork mixups that he has went a month or more without a paycheck and ive had to resort to food pantries to feed my kids......the national unemployment and homeless rates are at an all time high and your going to ridicule someone because they want to euthanize a dog that is obviously very old and suffering? i just get very irritated by people who think they are better than everyone else. she already said she has no internet and cable....do you people want her to stop buying groceries or shut off the electric next?

and for an answer now that im done my little rant, call your local animal shelter or humane society and explain the situation....they will usually euthanize them for free or little cost ......or you could surrender the dog to a shelter and they can decide if her problem can be fixed and she can be put up for adoption or if she should be euthanized.....i understand your trouble trust me, i had a 12 year old dog that developed a brain tumor....it could have been fixed but the vet said at her age it would cost about $5k to save her and she may only live another year or so and she would be in pain the majority of that time...and the treatments themselves could kill her so we had her put down.

I suggest that you take the poor soul to the SPCA at jalan kolam air KL or the nearest to where you leave and they will give you options. In KUL you can also take your pet to the animal hospital at pudu.In front of the badminton stadium not far from PGRMMBefore the roundabout where TESCO is.Try calling UPM Vet for the best advice. This is their number 03 86563528. These places take a lower fee than private PET clinics. Their task is to help place a needed pet to the best providing care needed, even placing it to sleep can be the best humane solution. Give yourself that piece of mind and do the right thing my friend. Remember animals cannot choose to be humans but sometimes humans choose to be animals.

    God bless.

Sell your books, DVD's, VHS tapes, and CD's. Cancel your Internet service. Pawn an extra TV. Borrow the money or get a payday loan. Take some of your clothes to a consignment shop.

There are plenty of ways to come up with the amount of $ it will cost to euthanize a dog. Barring that, go to your vet and make arrangements for a payment plan.

Your dog is suffering. It's up to you to do the right thing even if it means getting a 2nd job at McDonalds for a couple weeks.

    Do the right thing.

Your vet in long standing should understand the situation. Either he/she can set up payments if want the deed done by someone you have history with. If it doesn't matter to you, talk with your vet about options such as surrendering to the shelter, etc.

What you choose is what you'll live with. Make your decision based on what will bring you the most peace.

Take the dog to the local SPCA. They understand situations like this and will put the dog down in a humane way and will not charge you anything. You dog will simply be given a shot and will feel absolutely no pain.
