How do you make a runt kitten eat when he/she will not?
I have 4 white kittens, 3 eat & are fat, 1 barely eats.
I can feel the runts ribs> All the runt really does is curl up and sleep when the rest are eating!
P.S They still drink thier moms milk.
P.S.S They are only 7 days old. =(

Well you could try slowly feeding it kitten formula. I don't mean milk. Milk causes diarrhea. So never feed your kitten formula because diarrhea causes dehydration which can lead to deaths in kittens. I mean actual real kitten formula.
Take a syringe or bottle and slowly feed the kitten. Feed it at a 45 degree angle or the same angle kittens feed from their mothers. Never feed it like a baby; otherwise, it will choke to death.
Your kitten might have an internal disease. Some kittens are born with these. Some kittens are born and they lose the will to live and survive. I have had kittens before that were like this. All you can do for them is give them the best love and attention you can now.
Another thing you can try is weaning the other kittens off of mommy's milk and maybe even trying to get the skinny one to eat mushy dry food. That is dry kitten food mixed with either kitten formula or water NEVER milk.
If you can call the vet and see if he/she has any more advice on what you should or can do.
I wish you the best and sincerely hope your kitty gets fat.
Another thing too now that I think of it is buy foods made for kittens high in fat and protein and such...kitten food...and give it to the mother cat or in the wean dish.

you can syringe feed a kitten - i've done it many a time - but if you are not careful you could get it into their lungs and have issues. I would recommend you get to a vet and discuss feeding either with a syringe or tube feeding directly into the stomach.
you could try removing the kits for a while and leaving the runt with mom and try to get him to nurse. at seven days they can regulate their temp and are ok to be with out their mom for short periods of time. maybe half an hour or so at a time.
getting the kits to a vet is a good idea, he can see if there is a problem with the kitten that is causing it to not nurse. I once had a kitten with it's stomach up in it's lung cavity. Poor thing couldn't hold anything down and failed to thrive.

First thing is call the vet and ask for his advice, because the mother's milk is important and critical during this period in their lives. Try bottle feeding the runt yourself when the others are eating. Buy KMR (kitten replacement milk) and a bottle feeder at a petstore and feed the amount directed everytime the others are eating. You might have to force feed the little one for awhile, but it's necessary. GoodLuck!

try bottle feeding it - check your local "mart" store or your vet's office for something called "tiger's milk" - it's got the PERFECT nutrients for a kitten
DO NOT FEED KITTENS COW MILK!! - remember - the milk you buy at the grocery store was (naturally) intended for a new born calf that could weigh upto 100 lbs! - not for a kitten that will weigh just a few oz's - it can do some bad things to the tummy of a kitten!
bottle/dropper feed it some "kitty-formula" for a while, always keeping it with it's siblings and momma - then once it's got some strength, try to re-introduce it to the mother's milk
do this for a few days - if it's working, you should see improvement within the first day - if it's not, give your vet a call for some suggestions
good luck!! :)

How sad for him.... First, make sure he's peeing and pooping OK...no blockagees...the mother has to stimulate this by licking his butt. if he's not getting this kind of attention, you must take a washrag with warm water and gently wipe his butt so he can go...if he's not peeing or pooping, he can die. THEN You ought to buy some Gerber's #2 chicken or Turkey...these have no onion or onion powder(toxic to cats). We use it with feral kittens and others who won't eat, we scoop a bit from the far on our fingers, and hold it out to them, maybe wipe a dab on their nose or mouth, and when they get a taste of it, that's all it takes, evidently it's like candy for them. You might try bottle feeding the runt several times a day in very small amounts, with KMR, making sure the kitt is on its stomach, same position as when it would be nursing, as they can aspirate milk and choke/have it go into their lungs if you set them up like a human baby. Also, ask your vet if there's a way to give him a bit of vitamin b complex to stimulate his appetite.

try separating the 3 other cats to allow for the runt to feed properly...sounds like he isn't getting enough...just dont keep them separated too long...also, when they are feeding, try moving them a little so that the little one gets a chance too...you could also try bottle feeding it...go to the pet store and they should have synthetic cat's milk and tiny bottles/nipples that should help...
