The V6 model won't be available until the 2009 model year. The only thing available for 2008 is the HEMI and from what I hear, they are all sold out. I would still wait a year or two for Dodge to work out any bugs they might have. There are usually a few for any car first off the assembly line for any make not just Dodge.
But as far as the question goes, I would go for the 6cyl with miles on it when it is available since I would never in my lifetime have the cash for a HEMI. Even thought that would be the one I would rather have. LOL. :o)

JP, the 6 will be available in the 09 model line coming out in July/August 08.
Personally, I would not buy the 6, but if you look at Mustang sales, they sell a lot of v6 Mustangs, and I suspect Dodge will entice the same market for them, to Challenger.
They sold quite a few \6 Challengers in the '70's. People want the look of muscle, even if they can't afford the full muscle. Though it does not have the power of the Hemi by any means, the six they use has plenty of power. There are a ton of them out there in 300's, Charger's and Magnum's. Less power, but better gas mileage, and still the powerful look of the Challenger. Not a bad option for those that want it.

Obviously the V8 HEMI. It wouldb't be a challenger without it, aaaaand if i didn't have the money i wouldnt buy the v6 because i would wake every morning knowing its not a hemi but a slowslow. I also saw them both at the NY car show and the HEMI model even looks nicer, the v6 seems pointless to me.
