This is a problem that occurs often in multi cat households. Your cat may be feeling a bit insecure at the moment and to ease the stress you can purchase a feliway plug in from your vet. This releases pheromones into the air, much like those cats produce themselves on the side of their cheeks, which they rub against you. This scent makes them feel happy and secure and reduces stress. It is often used for this exact problem, soiling in the home. Another tip is when you clean up the urine, wash the area well with a non biological soap powder, rinse with clean cold water, dry the area as much as you can. Then get a small plastic plant sprayer and put a small amount of 1/2 surgical spirit and 1/2 water in it, shake it up and spray the washed area with the solution. This will break down the fatty deposits in the urine, which cant be washed away and get rid of the odour. This will stop the cats from re-spraying that area. Do not use anything else, except vinegar, as that will just change the scent and invite them to spray over it again with their own. Never smack an animal or rub its nose in the urine and do not use pepper. This is cruel and will only frighten and stress the animal so much so that it has forgotten what its just done or why its been punished. In fact if you make an animal fearful it is likely to do the exact thing you don’t want it to out of insecurity. With regard to your garden, well the cats probably think 'great this shingle is like a giant dirt box'. I think that turfing the area is the best idea. If they aren't neutered by now, I would also strongly suggest this. Good luck, I'm sure this will work with the problem inside the house .

Fill large clear empty bottle with water and place them around your garden. Cats are frightened of water and there own reflection so will learn to stop comeing into your garden
Just had an after thought. Try planting catnip in a neighbours garden that will distract them They'll be too busy peeing next door to notice your garden. Sorry couldnt help myself

trust me, peppers and citrus peel does not work. they come back again and again. i have tried it all
the best thing is you install a cat repeller - it costs about 30 quid and you get it in B&Q or google it.
all you have to do is put batteries in it and place it in your garden. they emit an ultrasonic sound that we cant hear but it willl annoy cats - it is harmless to them too. they wont come and poop around as the sound will really annoy them.
also wherever they have pooped before, clean with some jeyes fluid so they cant smell. they keep coming back because their smell exists and they prefer to do it in the same place
i know its a little expensive but its for life and batteries last long as well AND the most important thing is it really works !! much better than cleaning disgusting cat poo every day wrecking your garden....

Orange skins or lemon skins as long as its citrus as cats hate it, i have a cat myself and she poo,s in my neighbours garden, so i told them to put the skins down as i know people can get fed up with it, give it a go and see if it works,

Well a tried and tested way is to leave orange peel along areas that the cats are coming in and around your garden, if that doesn't work another thing they are terrified of are owl garden ornaments with the glazed eyes that light at night..................hope thats of some help :-)

I've found that keeping the grass cut stops most cats from pooping on it. It will not, however, stop raccoons or possums from doing their business on the lawn.
Cats prefer the longer, softer grass for their business, something they can pretend to cover over. The prickly ends of cut grass poke them wrong, so they go elsewhere to do their stuff.

vinegar and pepper are supposed to work. The ony problem is in the warm weather your garden smells like a chippy!! Don't use the pepper dusts you can buy from the shops. They really smell bad. It's revolting I know... good luck!
Hannah B is correct. I've never tried it but it does work apparently

there is a cat repellant that you can buy...I have had the same problem so i got my sons water pistol and I keep it by the back door and if a cat comes into my garden I spray it with water and they clear off...hmmm..come to think of it ,it hasn't been around for a while now.......

If you don't have any cats of your own that go outside, you could try wolf urine. I can't tell you whether or not it works, but I did consider it myself. It's reasonably priced (I guess - how much is wolf pee worth?) and comes in a spray or granules.
