Fausto Carmona signs contract extension with Cleveland-sending a sign to C.C. Sabathia?
I have been saying it since last year and the numbers do not lie. Carmona is a better pitcher than Sabathia.
Seems pretty clear to be that the Indians vested money into a young stud pitcher like Carmona when they could have used that money towards signing Sabathia at years end.
Sure C.C. won the Cy Young-but compare his numbers with Carmona. Carmona is the better arm.
If I had a must win game on the line and had to pick who toes the rubber between the two-Fausto gets the nod.
He has picked up where he left off last year too. 2 starts an era of I believe 0.68 1-0. And he logs alot of innings.
No knock on C.C., he is completely solid. But when I see Carmona I see Pedro Martinez in 1998-2004.
I think the Indians brass does too.
They may still sign C.C., the Indians have been coming up with some money the last few years and throwing out some nice contracts to seal guys down long term.
But I think they vested in their future today, not playing the chance card. Your thoughts??
First off all CC won't be in pinstripes-rest assured that. If he goes anywhere it will be out West To LA-(One of the two teams). First reason-he is from that area and all he talks about is how much he loves playing in front of his poeple in LA. Secondly, he bought a HUGE house out in LA that he says his family feels right at home there during the offseason. Third, he wants to win-that eliminates NYY. And 4th-he can't handle the pressure of pitching in NY. He gets too pumped up and pitches like crap in big situations. But even if he went to NY by some crazy (won't happen) chance-he still won't beat Carmona!!!
I assure you though he'd take less $$ to stay in Cleveland over playing in NY. He's Cali bound.

I think it's another smart decision by the Indians' front office. I'm not sure if they're trying to give C.C. a message or not, but it's a great idea to lock up Carmona through his arbitration years and possibly into his free agency time.
They're still on the hook for only $500k this season, and paying him $13.75m over the next three years is nothing, considering he'd likely command in the neighborhood of $8-$10m when his arbitration ticket was punched. What I really like on the Tribe's side of things is the club option for 2012-2014. If Carmona proves he's as good as he's looked to this point, then they'll have a stud pitcher at a bargain price. If something happens (dropoff, injury, etc.), they have an out.
Great deal for both sides, and for Indians fans.

The Indian front office showed its smarts on this one. It is a good deal for both parties. However, C. C. Sabathia will still have to demonstrate continued domination of other clubs this season in order to demand a better and longer contract from any club. The Cleveland Indians front office will, I predict, meet any and all enhancements of any other MLB club's offers to Sabathia, thus retaining two top notch pitchers.

That could open the door to Sabathia coming to the Yankees, and Carmona, becoming the ace, of the Indians.

Sabathia will be in Pinstripes next yr! Remember you heard it here first.
EDIT
How do you explain the yankee hat he wore all winter to the basketball games? Money talks BS walks, everyone has a price, even CC

I still have hope that they will sign CC, although if they don't we have our ace of the future locked up for a long time.
