What type of maintenance should I have done to my vehicle?

I have a 1999 Honda Accord, 4 cylinder, 4 door. It has 89K and is in great shape, never needed repair, and is up to date with all routine maintenance.

After 60-70K I was told to have the timing belts replaced. Does anyone know if this model has one or two timing belts? I was told different things by different people. What should a fair replacement cost be?

I know I should definitly get a tune up, and have the timing belt(s) replaced. I also need to have allignment done on my front wheels. What are and honest pricing rates for these servies?

I would like to also note that I do alot of long distance driving in my car. I am a travel nurse, and I drive across the country here and there around every 3 months or so. Anything I MUST HAVE DONE before I drive from San Jose, CA to San Diego? What maintenance needs to be done that I could put on hold, until I get to San Diego?

Well you are doing good so far with the maintenance to replace the timing belt should run about 300 at the most it all depends on where you take it any car that has a timing belt has only one even if it has dual cams a tune up these days basicly consists of changing the plugs and new wires if they are needed if you havent had it done in the last 50,000 miles I would suggest changing the fuel filter a tune up only takes about a 1/2 hour for the tune up and filter and If it hasnt been done in the last 100,000 miles i would have the transmission serviced also.As far as the alignment goes most places will check it for free and only charge you it it needs one and that shouldnt be more than a bout 50 dollars for a 2 wheel alignment

All of it could be put on hold, given you've stated it currently has no driving issues. I'd do the timing belt first (one only). I found this post on another forum "Replace timing belt, water pump, all drive belts and coolant. Prices were

    $850, $810 (provides a loaner car) and $790. I'm going with the $810 dealer

primarily because he can do it in 6 days from today vs 17 days for the $850

dealer. The $790 guy is abut a 40 min drive with no way for me to get home.

Too bad I didn't think about it sooner as I just had my EGR valve replaced

(under the 80,000 mile/8 yr. extended warranty) and could have had the belt

replacement done at the same time"

Make sure to get the waterpump changed at the same time, since it's beneath the timing cover and belt. The tune up could probably wait until 100k if it's got platinum plugs, and it probably came with them. Just keep it serviced regularly, oil, filters, etc. As for the alignment, as long as it's simple, needs no new parts, it should be less than 200 at most shops. Possibly under 100. Good luck with it!

Your 2.3Liter, 4 Cylinder engine has two timing belts both due to be replaced at 105,000 miles (See the Gates Belt listing for your car below if you have the 6 cylinder engine instead). However, they are 9 years old, so since you have an "interference" type engine which suffers major ($$$) damage if the cam belt breaks, I would definitely have them replaced along with your timing belt driven water pump before the trip. The belt tensioner and idler pulleys should also definitely be replaced for a total Honda shop cost of about $900.

one timing belt . usually around $400 to replace, have water pump done at same time even though it costs extra its worth it, do the tune up and check alignment. have tires and brakes inspected too. i almost forgot, its always worth flushing out transmission every 30,000 miles if you have an automatic.

Technically no they don't. physique shop grow to be merged with the main shop men (maintenance on customary objective autos). They nonetheless do physique artwork, and you ought to maximum in all risk get it to the place your shop allow you to do distinctive the physique shop artwork, yet not something is for specific.
