My poem came home this morning. Will it stay for a while?

Porchlight
by TD Euwaite
Where is the finest
Free designer
Artist’s daughter, loving father
The one who draws me as I truly am
She’s coming home from broken promise
With her talents and the chorus
Singing songs that she
No longer wants to hear
Come cry your lonely sorrows
Cupid’s arrow and a token
Tomorrow you can
Ride the tears away
Do not forget the home that wept
As you slept inside
Laughed at silly fears
Counted years
And then tonight has cried

Tragic, and at the same time so cuttingly poignant in such a spare format. I could see the glowing porchlight, the girl with her teary eyes and broken heart, returning home, the only place that will take her, the place she almost loves to hate. And the personification of the walls of the home, weeping, laughing, counting, until finally she is sheltered as she should be...and the walls allow themselves one good cry. Beautiful...that's really all I can say.

It's beautiful. You made me cry. I never had a Dad and lost my Mom when I was 24. Made me remember how when I would call home to talk to my mom I would try to be strong, but she always knew when I was hurting. We would just be talking about whatever and she would break in and say "Okay, what's wrong". She always knew and I never had to say anything. God, I miss that. Thanks for sharing your love for your daughter. I'm sure she is well aware of how fortunate she is to have you. Hopefully, she will stay a while.
Absolutely beautiful poem from a loving father.

This is about a marriage/relationship gone bad, Yes?
My Dad dis-owned me because I married.....well, I married my son's Father to prove something....Turned out I was wrong, but when my dad learned my life was in danger, he said "Pack up the Kid and the dog and come home."
I did. He may have saved my life, but I'll never know.... To this day he's a jerk, self-righteous, "Live MY way or NO way".
Now he's done it to my sister and her family of 4 beautiful children....who LOVE their Grandpa!....Sorry, that's a touchy subject!
Hope it all turns out!

I went and bought myself a ticket
And I set down in the very first row...oh, oh...
Little Egypt came out struttin, wearing
Nuttin but a button and a bow, oh, oh,
She had a ruby on her tummy and a
Diamond big as Texas on her toe....
She did a triple summersault and when
She hit the ground, she winked at the audience, and
Then she turned around. She had a picture of a
Cowboy tatooed on her spine...sayin,
"Phoenix, Arizona, 1949"
Maybe she didn't come from your gal's house.....uh......

It must be hard when the nest empties, but when it fills back up with the fledglings who need aid and comfort, it must be even harder. This is a very moving poem with clear, intense imagery. Another in my short list.

This is great. Have you seriously thought of publishing? Great emotions, although some words rhymed while others did not. My suggestion is to stick to a defined style and tweek, But I love IT!!!
