I've battled depression for 8 years and have tried every anti-depressant under the sun plus anti-anxiety drugs. The depression has put me in hospital so many times I truly have lost count. However, recently I was in a coma and emerged drug free and made a decision to keep it that way. I still have some depression, (see my nickname for this site!) but my head is much clearer - I always found the drugs lobotomising. The best 2 things outside of drugs are talking therapy and exercise, even if it's just a walk around the block. Keep up the yoga, it will keep you in good stead. However, it's your journey, make your own decisions, and ABOVE all DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO INFANTILISE YOU- you sound young, so it will probably pass quickly. Remember, the only good thing about depression is that it ends!
PS. Get enought sunlight, it produces seratonin in your brain.
PPS. You will by in my thoughts.

Talk therapy - cognitive or behavioural - is very helpful when dealing with depression. I know that your doctor prescribed you antidepressant, but I highly suggest you make an appointment to see a psychiatrist who is specialised in psychotropic medications and will be able to treat you better. I am of the opinion that regular M.D.s over-prescribe medication and are not up to the latest news on psychiatric medications which means you'll not get the best care with them.
At any rate, your idea of yoga is excellent. Exercise releases endorphins which are the feel good chemicals of the body. Endorphins will help you lower your stress as well as increase your energy and mood. Going bike-riding or walking is another great way to feel better.
PS. If you are only taking the trial, know that anti-depressants do not immediately 'kick-in' it may take weeks (or more) for the effects of antidepressants to be seen.

I have been suffering from depression myself last year. I had your symptoms, and later got so severe I was hospitalized. I realized after this horrifying experience that the cause of it all was I just wasn't happy with my life. My job sucks, relationship was bad, no friends. I had to used medication in the beginning to help me recover, and goto group therapy. But now I'm off meds/group therapy and feels 80% of what I used to be before depression. What I did was I quit my job since, and think about what I want to do in this life time. I do what I like everyday. I eat healthy, fruits/vegetables, omega-3 fish oil soft gels daily, exercise (I ride my bicycle in the park for 1 hr per day). I go out to malls and just talk to people in stores, ask them about their products. Watch comedy movies. Reconnect with old friends. Participate in more group activitys. Join meetup.com and find people to meet in my area. I feel so much better now. I guess my only problem is having to think about what I want to do for my job, because I'm still having anxiety about working. But I'm going to take a class in city college about choosing the right career. Hope this helps! Get some sun, the sun helps depression! Remember one thing, NEVER GIVE UP! Life is a journey, not a destination! Think about all the wonderful things in this world, places you want to go, food you like to eat, people that cares about you! (People = anybody, you don't have to know them! If you ask about local depression meet ups, you will know what I mean! There are so many other people suffering from depression, and has recovered, that are willing to help you!) You are not alone! Millions of people suffer from depression annually! This is not the end of the world! Thanks!

when i was a kid i got put on a lot of different meds and they like ruined 8 years of my life seriously. but i was on a lot. i took lexapro at one time and it does make you drowsy and it made me a little lightheaded n airy i dunno if that makes sense.. but id suggest if u wanna try meds give it like a month and a half cuz they affect your body in different ways and you have to adjust. some meds are great but people dont give them a chance... i prefer counseling and exercise etc myself
