You have to be brutal to be kind. You're family needs to work as a unit together to get him healthy, happy and active. Seriously, being fat can potentially dampen a person's childhood - I always remember the fat kid being picked on, upset, left out of gaes because they couldn't run like the rest of us.

But don't belittle him or say he's ona diet or anything, but as a family give hime fruit and veg, eventually he'll get hungry enough to stop complaining and just at it

also, don't eat junk in ront of him, that's unfair, the whole family will have to pull together to make a positive atmosphere in which he whole family can get healthy and happy and fit

    like on TV

THis is how we did when my mum lost weight

It's wonderful that you are worried about him-- it makes me so sad when i see overweight children. And at five, he's still really just a baby. You've got to nip this in the bud before the bad habits become any more ingrained.

Exercise with him, but make it fun. Some of the other answerers have given great ideas.

Eat right when you are around him-- veggies (call it rabbit food, whatever works) Most kids like fruits, so make fruit salad with him.

And most of all, get your mom on the same page. Tell her it is NOT okay that he is five years old and weighs this much. Tell her that his future is looking grim if he doesn't drop the weight and develop better habits. His health as well as his social life will be dramatically impacted if something doesn't change. People DIE from obesity-related problems everyday. i'm sure she doesn't want her son being one of them---get her involved. Get the whole family involved. Eating right doesn't have to be boring, or taste bad. If you want a list of some healthier, yummy foods, please feel free to email me.

    Good luck to you!

Try playing games outdoor for example: tag. That's a fun running game. Or you could take him swimming. Swimming is great for all parts of the body. And even you could play sports with him such as: basketball, baseball, or tennis. What ever sport he likes. You guys could go tot he local park everyday and run around and play for and hour and a half too. You guys can also dance too an upbeat song that he likes. Thats fun. There are a lot of things that kids do that are fun and excersize their bodies. All you have to do is make sure he's having fun and he'll want to play not knowing he's losing the weight. Good luck!

Make Daily exercises routines in a fun exciting way just keep him active for an hour each day I f he likes sports Play them with him or do lots of fun (HEALTHY) activities with him that he will enjoy for example Play bike pirates Were You pretend to be pirates and cycle all over the place he would enjoy that

And make him Realize whats gonna happen if he keeps it up

You can make him fun healthy food maybe cut vegetables into fun shapes, put some smiley faces on sandwiches, etc. You can lay some fun exercise games, maybe hide and seek. There's also some video games that are fun and exercise. Wii Fit is a game for the Nintendo Wii and it's supposed to make exercising really fun, take a look into it and see if it interests you and your brother. I think it's great that you are concerned about your little brother.

5 year olds should not be lifting any weights. He could become his weight, fairly than lose it (except he's dangerously obese). to maintain his coronary heart wholesome, throw a ball around with him for 30 minutes after dinner.

most boys love to go cycling

so get his friends to join in too, that way he will enjoy it more

take him to the park also, and play some catch, football, play with a frisbee etc, he will be running and playing at the same time

also swimming is a good idea

not only will it help him lose weight, it will help him later in life

actually there is a book that you can buy and i think its by Jessica Seinfeld or something but in her recipes you put spinach and other healthy things in brownies and stuff and its suppossed to be better. I have 8 kids of my own ( only 6 of them are actually mine) and they're all picky eaters and LOVE junk food. I started mixing in very small amounts of carrots or squash into their food and they cant tell the difference. also i started making wheat pancakes with half wheat half white flour and the kids cant tell the difference. also try signing your brother up for a sport or play WITH him. swimming is also a good way to burn fat.

It doosn't take running. Just get him out and active. Can he ride a bike? Start slow maybe around the block. Anytime is he up and moving will burn more calories than being inactive.

Take that kids videogames away, give him 1 snack a day and tell him go start playing soccer, swimming, football, or wrestling, those will all help him lose wieght.
