Can US tourist visa can apply a social security number?

can tourist visa B1-B2 can apply a "not valid for work" social security number?

    No You can't because you supposedly come of tourist.

    No you can't. There used to be certain states (one of which was IL) that required you have a SSN in order to get a drivers license. To my knowledge that is no longer the case, therefore you can't get a SSN on that type of non immigrant visa. If you have an employment based visa e.g. L1, H1B etc then you are able to apply for a SSN. If you are here on a visa that does not allow you to work in the US then you can only get a SSN if your state requires you to have one in order to obtain a benefit or service that you are entitled to.

    Go to the website listed and click on questions, then scroll down to SSN's for no Citizens - the info is all there.

    Anyone can apply for a tax identification number and pay taxes as due. But illegal aliens can't get a social security number.

    Sure, Why not apply for welfare and food stamps while you are at it. Also you can apply for SSI disability and retirement.
