How do I stop food sticking to a stainless steel frypan?
Oil simply isn't sufficient. I always wind up using a lot of elbow grease scraping and scrubbing off all the stuff that winds up stuck to the pan.
I heard there's meant to be some technique that involves frying salt or sugar or something that leaves an effective non-stick coating on the pan. Anybody know what it is? Or any other tricks?

You fry salt or sugar, until it turns brown, then wipe of the excess. This creates an effective non-stick coating on the pan for a couple of washes.
Good luck x

Fat is the key! If you're cooking eggs then forget the stainless steel pan and go get a non-stick...but if you're using it for meats you should familiarize yourself with the technique of deglazing. Stainless steel pans are good because of how hot you can get them, which allows for nice searing. Any meat bits left behind in the pan can be used as the base of a sauce. You may also want to get a fish spatula...they're extremely flat and make it easy to flip foods that are stuck to the pan.

Maybe the oil you're using has a low burn point so it is burning alot sooner than another oil would. Further more, you should move your food about your pan often...more often. Do not use vegetable oil, most sprays use vegetable oil, if I recall.
I use either corn oil or granola oil. Also, when firing up the pan allow the oil to heat up before you put any food into the pan. If it splatters you probably have too much oil in the pan, and this is not heathy for you anyway. Avoid frying your food anyway, Broil, Boiled, and Baked is much healthier....Heart Smart..

Give it a good spraying with one of the cooking sprays like Pam. That works for my stainless steel frying pans. I don't particularly like teflon or whatever.

Dont worry about it...cook normally using oil, pam, butter etc.
Once your finished...Clean with APPLE CIDER VINEGER using a high-grit sponge. It will get your stainless steel clean.
Also works great on rice cookers, dryer lent traps, and your pet's food and water bowls.

hi .
umm have you tried the conola oil spray, that works for me .
but also i was watching on better homes and gardens and they said that after its there try boiling water in the pan and all the food should come off. other wise put salt at the bottom of the pan and cut a lemon in half and rub the lemon with the salt againest the fry pan, that should work !

well, the answer is oil. Will you put oil on the pan before you cook? Everytime I saw my mum putting oil on the pan and then started to fry the food. So I think the main answer could be oil.
