"Yes" should be interpreted as "very likely" since there is no such thing as a Sure Thing for the Hall.

Ramirez - Manny yes, Aramis no, Hanley way too early.

    Mussina - no.

    Rivera - yes.

    Petitte - no.

    A-Rod - yes.

    Jeter - yes.

    Percival - no

    Shilling - no.

    Thome - yes.

    Ordonez - no.

Pudge Rodriquez - yes, and the Hall will spell his name correctly on the plaque.

    Kenny Rogers - no.

    Guerrero - yes.

    Frank Thomas - yes.

Ichiro - unfair, as he hasn't yet played the requisite 10 seasons minimum, but I'll project him to a yes anyway.

    Glavine - yes.

    Smoltz - yes.

    Chipper Jones - yes.

    Billy Wagner - no.

    Petro Martinez - yes.

    Alou - no.

    Griffey - yes.

    Jamie Moyer - no.

    Pujols - see Ichiro note.

    Randy Johnson - yes.

Helton - tough call. Great hitter, but played in Coors. Not done yet. I'm leaning No today, but he's got some seasons left and may yet tip the balance in his favor.

    Garciaparra - no.

Hoffman - yes. Just look at the first three letters of his surname.

    Maddux - yes.

Carlos Delgado - no, but see Helton note.

Sheffield - I moved Sheff to the bottom because to me he's a very precarious candidate. I loathe trying to evaluate him for the Hall. The numbers -- pretty good, perhaps enough on their own (and he's not done), but there's just something MISSING with Sheffield. He never seems to be the Big Guy, the one who'll hoist the team upon his shoulders and carry them. He's got a nonstop mouth that sets loose statements that don't win him any warm'n'fuzzy awards. There's allegations that he tanked some defensive plays in his youthful Milwaukee years. His name pops up in steroids smear pieces. He's just an incredibly diverse mixed bag, and I have no idea how the writers will approach his candidacy, because it's never JUST about the stats.

I gave all closers at MOST a maybe.

I will get the thumbs down for my no to Jeter, but really, if you look at his #'s and take away the name, he wouldn't make it if he retired now.

Bit of speed, 2300 hits, .300 average, average power. Whooop - di - do.

He will definitely need to get 3000 hits to get in and I would have said the EXACT same thing of Biggio when he was at 2300 hits.
