  • Another inconsistent triad?

Christianity and probably Islam and Judaism propose that:

    1. God created man

    2. Man is flawed

    3. Man's flaw's are man's fault

Why does God blame man for man's flaws when God made man flawed?

That has never made any sense to me.

One of the big reasons I stopped believing

  • Second Amendment Case - anyone else catch the contradiction?

Justice Scalia discusses at length the fact that a significant factor behind the second amendment was the concern that the government could use its own militias to disarm individual gun owners who might be a threat to the government, like the Stuarts did in England to the Protestants in the 1600s and like King George III did in the colonies in the 1760s and 1770s.

Meaning, one of the justifications for the right to bear arms in the second amendment was so that we as individual citizens can protect ourselves from the government's attempt to unlawfully disarm us. If the government comes to disarm me with a tank, I need an anti-tank weapon to defend my right to bear arms.

However, later in the opinion Scalia suggests in dicta that the opinion should not be read to limit a states' ability to prohibit or regulate ownership of "unusual weapons" or something to that effect. But how can I keep the government from unlawfully disarming me with just a handgun or a shotgun?

  • Where to I fall on the political spectrum, from ultra liberal to moderate to ultra conservative?

I don't care if gays get married, and the government should stop trying to ban it

I believe that the Second Amendment gives U.S. citizens the right to own any weapon, including tanks, surface to air missles, or fighter jets if you can afford it, and the government cannot ban it

I am against the death penalty in any case

The government has passed too many laws to prevent or limit lawsuits against greedy corporations, insurance companies and bad doctors.

Our taxes are way too high, and the federal government spends way too much money

I am not sure if God exists, and if he does, I am not sure if he gets involved in human affairs

Abortion is murder unless it is done to save the mother's life.

Although President Bush has completely bungled the Iraq war, I do not think it is prudent to set a short time line for getting out right now

  • Does intelligent design really make sense?

At one time I believed that "intelligent design" proved the existence of a creator. The idea that if you find a watch in the desert, you have to assume there is a watchmaker. But when I thought more about it, that really does not hold water when it comes to whether a god exists.

If you deduce from the complexity of our world and universe the existence of a creator, then you have to assume that the creator is far more complex than our universe could ever be. Then you would have to deduce, using the same logic, that this highly complex creator also must have had a creator. And then you would have to deduce that the creator of our creator is even more complex than our creator, and, thus, had to have its own creator. The circle never stops.

So, it is just as plausible to believe that everything in our universe has always existed as it is to believe that a creator has always existed.

  • Earned run scoring question?

Pitcher gets 2 outs in an inning. Next batter reached on an error. Next batter hits a home run. Those 2 runs clearly are unearned.

At this point, relief pitcher comes in. Relief pitcher gives up a single and a home run. Are those two runs charged as earned runs to relief pitcher? Does the fact that he came into the game after the inning should have been over absolve him of any runs he gives up in that inning? I'm thinking the 2 runs are charged as earned to relief pitcher in that scenario, but I am not sure if that's right.

  • Which of these recently retired players will make the Hall of Fame?

    Mike Piazza - yes

Larry Walker - no, but it's hard to argue with a .313 lifetime average.

Edgar Martinez - no, but see note on Walker

Biggio - yes, 3000 hits still gets you in

    Rickey Henderson - yes

Palmeiro - probably. If it was just the home runs, I might say questionable because of the steroid cloud, but he also had 3000 hits. McGwire could not get in on the first try with all of his home runs.

Bonds - yes despite the steroids

Sosa - This is a tough one. If McGwire ever gets in, Sosa should get in.

Clemens - again, the steroid cloud makes him not a sure thing

John Franco - 424 saves, 4th all time. But still no.

McGriff - no, because steroids cheapened home runs

Bagwell - no for the same reason

Roberto Alomar - not sure, probably no

    David Cone - no

    Bernie Williams - no

    Kenny Lofton - no

David Wells - at 239 wins, has more than Hall of Famers lWhitey Ford, Catfish Hunter, Don Drysdale, Waite Hoyt, Jim Bunning, Bob Lemon, and Hal Newhouser. But still, probably no

  • Question about predestination and free will?

If we assume that God is all powerful and all knowing.

Let's assume for the sake of argument that I am a serial killer. When I was born, God knew that when I became an adult, I would murder several children. God had the power to (1) keep me from being born or (2) take my life before I murdered someone.

If God is all knowing and all powerful, the blood of my victims is on his hands.

Also, when I was born, God knew that I was going to become a serial killer, and did nothing to prevent it. Did I REALLY have a choice about the matter? Could I have made a choice that is contrary to what God already knew was going to happen?

The point is, if there is a God, there is no free will.

  • Does anyone else think that there is just not enough good music out right now?

I like new music that is exceptionally good. I like alot of differnt types of music. The problem is that I get tired of even the best music after a while, and want to move on to something new. The last thing I really liked was My Chemical Romance's last album, but I have been overplaying that because there is almost nothing else out there that is any better. I like the Used, but I don't care for their latest song - the bird and the worm. Sick Puppies show some promise, but onlly a couple of their songs are any good. System of a Down has some good stuff out, but I have overplayed that and have gotten tired of it.

    I like some C & W music, but I haven't heard any decent C & W in a long time.

I have liked pop singers like Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne, and Michelle Branch, but Kelly's stuff has been so overplayed, I'm tired of it, and Avril and Michelle have not done anything worth a crap since their first albums, which I have long since tired of.

  • Scoring question?

I know that If you ground into a double play, and a runner scores, you get no RBI.

What if there is a runner on third and a runner on second with no outs. The batter hits a flyball to centerfield that looks like it might be a double. The centerfielder makes a great catch. The runner on third tags and scores. The center fielder throws the ball to second base and the runner on second is tagged out. Does the batter get an RBI on this type of double play?

  • Abortion question.?

In most states, if you deliberately kill a pregnant woman and her unborn child, you can be charged with murdering the unborn child. The law considers the unborn child to be a person.

However, if you are a doctor and you deliberately kill an unborn child by performing an abortion, you cannot be charged with murder.

    Explain that one.

  • A question about the Second Amendent (the right to bear arms).?

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

I have always believed that the primary purpose of the 2nd Amendment was to enable citizens to protect themselves against their own federal government. If you read the Federalist Papers, there is ample support for that view.

In 1789 single shot muskets and cannons were about as technologically advanced as it got. Today, if the military ever turned on the American people, we would need alot more than rifles and cannons to defend ourselves.

Assuming that you could afford to acquire them, I believe that Americans have the individual right to own tanks, fighter jets, surface to air missiles, etc.

What about nuclear weapons? If you believe that the purpose of the 2nd amendment is to protect ourselves from our own government, then why would the 2nd amendment not extend to anything necessary to defend ourselves?

  • A new proposal for electing politicians. What do you think?

I think most people have no idea what they are voting for when they vote for a politician. Instead of voting for a person, I think people should vote on issues. For example if you agree with the majority of the following statements, your vote is for the democratic candidate:

1 We should do nothing to protect our country from terrorists.

2 We should do nothing to secure our borders

3 The government should be completely in charge of our health care system

4 15 year old girls be able to get abortions without their parent's consent

5 Our taxes are way too low

6 Illegal aliens should have free health care and education that American citizens have to pay for

7 Global warming is the biggest problem we face today

8 People who murder children do not deserve the death penalty

9 We don't have enough lawsuits

10 Socialism is a good thing.

I will post another list later to see if you should vote Republican
