How to clean an ice cream scooper?
I have a fairly old ice scream scooper that I have been using for years. Recently, it has turned a dark grey color, and if I try to use it, it leaves a grey color on the ice cream. Is there a way to clean it? Last night, I ran a sink of soapy water and drained it later. This morning, my scooper looks like it has rock salt all over it. Is this a type of mold, and can it be cleaned, or it it time to throw it away?

its time to let it go. it sounds like the electro plating is coming off and the metal is reacting to the water.

It sounds like the one that I had from pampered chef. I put it in the dishwasher and it did exactly the same thing.

If the grey isn't going away when you wash it, then you should get a new one.

if your ice cream scooper is like your sliverware you can use train x or any other sliverware cleaner should work fine
