Are your virtual friends real?

Update:

I have met a lot of wonderful people online, most are just aquantiences, but a handful have become "real" friends over the last few years.

FYI My husband (a computer phobe) occasionally calls them my imaginary friends. Personally I have no problem having friendships without physical contact, and I have some great conversations and learned a lot from my imaginary friends.

Update 2:

My thougths are that there are real people sitting at every keyboard. The net is just a new method of communication.

Update 3:

Yes skalite... we are all plants. It is one giant conspiracy against you *sigh* whatever shall we do now that you found us out? will we be out of a job? *grins*

and freq ~ you are right there are a lot who come off as fakes.

I think most of the people I know fall into one of two broad categories. Those who wear masks and those who are strippers. and face it... we are both strippers

some..... I feel that some of the ones I chat with (not you) are fakes. The act different in real life, so I call them fakes. They put up an act for the online friends they have. I really don't care about it much, just I don't want to meet some of them, from the feels and ways they act online.

And, when are you coming up here? We still need to take you out for lunch for that great gift you gave us, and yes it helped so much

*does a striping routine just for Kharm*

What, think I'll strip for you? Well, ok.. just the mask though. ;- P

Definitely, and they're very bit as valid as a "real-life" friendship. In fact some of them I get to talk to even more often than my "real-life" friends.

There are some I would view as just acquaintances, but some I have been friends with for a very long time (8 years). After that length of time you really do get to know each other.

Real enough. Certainly no less real than a penfriend would be.

I like to know my 'friends' are OK. Worry when they appear not to be. Enjoy hearing their thoughts on 'life the Universe and everything'.

I even like to hear how their day has gone. One (mutual) friend in particular.

So yes. While they are different from my everyday friends, I would certainly miss many of them if I did not hear from them regularly.

Yes. I'm not as close to my virtual friends as I am to the rest of my friends, but the relationships are definitely "real." I see it as essentially the equivalent of having friends in faraway places. I have friends who I haven't seen in years but I still talk to them on the phone, and I would consider my online friendships as real as those friendships.

LMAO, are you wondering if I exist?

    (Sorry, I'm in a weird mood today. :-p )

I would consider you a real friend. I think most of my virtual friends are just virtual though. I'm not on often enough lately for that to be different.

I consider my virtual friends as real friends and am there for them as much as I can when they need a shoulder, etc.

Through a group I'm part of, I've connected to several via e-mails and snail mail. It's fun to meet them when I can.

genuine by using fact online you are able to desire to be speaking to each and each individual, yet genuine you comprehend who they are face-to-face. :) yet having suggested that digital persons are much less perplexing to chat to considering the fact which you will in no way meet them and that they are much less perplexing to make acquaintances with. XD
