College ARMY ROTC?

I am a prior service Army veteran. I am currently 28 years old, an LPN (nurse) and I am wanting to go back to school for my RN. Of course, the hardest thing to get me to go back to school is the working while going to school full time trying to support myself.

Is there an age cap off for ROTC for college students? Or is it available to anyone within enlistment age range?

Reasons why I am asking here first:

1)I was in the reserves for 8 years

2)If I don't ave to talk to a recruiter, I won't. I don't like them now, nor did I ever....

Thanks in advance.

you should be able to get active duty, or degree completion. i'm 27 and just finishing my first year of rotc, and i know of cadets that are much older. personally i'd hold out for OCS and degree completion, because then you'd be commissioned and just be going to college on the pay of an 0-1E. the Army needs nurses and you should be able to get a great deal.

I would give it serious consideration IF YOU LIKED THE MILITARY. Working with the ROTC program will not be like being an enlisted person. After all you are future officer material, but it will still be the ARMY. In the summer of '65 or '66 (senior moment) I went thru a special program that allowed college students that had gone to schools that did not have a program and were transferring to schools that did to make up the first two years of ROTC that they had missed.

Fort Knox was hot that summer, but I still had a good time and it did prepare me for the Army when I finally went in, in 1970. The problem was I transferred to another college WITHOUT a program. I ended up in USASA and avoided "Nam. No need for 04B2LLA's there. Good Luck

27 seems to be the max. Maybe you can get a waiver.

The Air Force age limit is 31 or 35 by the end of the year in which you're commissioned.

Do you have 2 years of college? There are only 2 and 4 year scholarships available and for this fall it may be too late for one.

The Navy enlisted commissioning program you must be active duty and be selected by a board but you have until age 42. The Navy rotc program cutoff is 27.

Contact the closest university with an Army ROTC Program, they will have an 'officer' recruiter who can give you all the details, especially about the Army Nurse's Program.

Note-most ROTC positions are 'contracted' to former officers who are still allowed to wear their uniforms and teach. Should change anything for you though. Good luck
