Am I the only 'regular' who had no idea there is a "Popular" List on the Yahoo Answers homepage!?

Starred questions make up the list. I always wondered why people cared about getting stars, other than as a way to alert their contacts to interesting questions.

FAQ----"Marking good questions with a star helps Answers surface the best content on the site. When a question gets a star, it's automatically nominated to appear in the "Popular" list on the Answers home page. Answers' Popular list gives insight into what the community thinks are the most interesting questions at any given point in time.

Answers' Popular list is similar to Flickr's "Interestingness" feature and the "Hotlist" on del.icio.us where sharing popular content enriches the experience for the entire community. "

Who knew? lol

Update:

Here's the link:

http://au.answers.yahoo.com/

The "Answers Home" link is also at the top right corner of this page. Once there scroll down past Best of Q&A, My Network's Q&A and stop at Answer Questions. To the right you'll see "Recent" and "Popular".

Update 2:

Turtles all the way down------- No, the "Popular List' isn't the same as "Best of Answers".

I admit - I had no idea. I'm gonna star your question.

And here's something embarrassing - after answering a question, I don't know the easiest way to return to the same place on the questions page - I keep hitting the back button until I get there.

    Here I go.... <- <- <- <-

Your meals become "as soon as I finish with Y!A". You're up until way past what USED to be your regular bedtime. You miss your favorite TV show(s) (I only have one - Simpsons) on a regular basis. You don't feed the cat(s) and/or dog(s) until you're done checking in with Y!A in the morning. BAD human, BAD! You keep track of ALL of your questions and answers until they are long dead and buried. You multi-task with both tasks being Y!A. I'm getting depressed, enough already. Glad I don't actually DO any of these!

I noticed a long time ago that R&S questions (stars or no stars) seldom make to the 'popular list'. I even asked a question about it.

See your question is a perfect example. The questions in that list have as little as 3 stars and have been posted for up to a day and your question is NOT there.

    It should be.

I had no idea little beano

I thought they were just to direct our contacts to the question.

    hmm

I wonder if this is one of the "new" features that have just been implemented, and that could possibly be why some q's from our contacts get deleted so frequently? The more people who see it raises the likelyhood of some vigilante reporting it.

    ((((beano))))

Oh so that's what the stars are for and how those questions make it on to the home page. Who knew? ;-)

Yikes! I've been using it to alert my contacts to offensive questions! Oh well, if it makes the "popular" list, maybe others will also report it as offensive.

    .

  • I think I read it once. And then promptly forgot about it.

I'm more of an esoteric obscure geek girl. I probably wouldn't have any idea what the mega-popular Q were going on about. :-)

I'm confused... I wonder if the "popular" list is the same as the "Best of Answers" section...

Count me as one that didn't know either.

    So what's new ?? There is a lot I don't know.

And a lot more that I'm better off not knowing.

I so tired of that political ranting big mouth. ~~~~

He's full of it. "Wake Up America". Read the signs.

I had never noticed that, but then I am not 'regular' perhaps it is due to my adversity to bran muffins, I just cannot seem to drink enough coffee to wash those thing down.
