Why did our Congress voted for the equivalent of a $150 billion tax increase?.?

They voted to make your next trip to the gas station more expensive; to make your next airplane ticket more expensive; to make heating your home more expensive -- even to make feeding your family more expensive.

How did they do it? By voting to block environmentally sound production of U.S. energy in favor of continuing to be held hostage to oil from foreign dictatorships. I'll explain in a minute.

Update 2:

Fluke I agree but we also should drill for our on oil why we try to find that new resources

Update 3:

OpenMind that has nothing to do with my question F them why not drill for our own..

Update 4:

You like paying for higher oil do not you and it going to get higher

Update 5:

Big E lol ficking them bear they dying anyway because of Global warming just kidden but we need that oil ...

I totally agree with you.We need to open up our own resources.

There is an old quote from 1973 when the arab oil embargo hit us.

May all you ecological bastards freeze to death in the dark.

Well, lets see we need more refineries, we need to uncap the wells that are capped off. We have more than enough oil in the U.S. right now. there is no need to drill more wells. We just need to utilize what we already have. I can't remember the report, but I read one that said we have at least a 20-25 year supply already in the wells that are capped. I know several who work in the oil industry and they will tell you the same thing. They are being laid off on a daily basis because the wells where they worked are being shut down. Not shut down from lack of oil but, to conserve it for future generations.

When we get big oil out of the pockets of Congressional members, maybe we would see a difference. I for one am tired of my money going overseas. I would much rather see it spent stateside.

If it were a tax increase would'nt the governement be getting the money? Just because we heard one side of an argument about Colorado Oil shale does not make me a believer, give me an article that is not so biased and I might concede you have a point. The fact the article goes on to talk about how we are not selling guns to Saudi Arabia, and how that is a bad thing? Seems like we are getting tough on terrorism? Saudi Arabia is the biggest sponser of terrorist in the world, that is a fact, and I will cite if I can find the source.

    According to this article:

    http://www.energybulletin.net/11779.html

"The primary explanation is that oil shale is a lousy fuel. Compared to the coal that launched the Industrial Revolution or the oil that sustains the world today, oil shale is the dregs."

Sen Salazar appears to be part of the group slowing this as he says:

"Oil shale development would have significant impacts on the land and water on the Western Slope and all of Colorado."

    Also from this same article:

    http://www.examiner.com/a-1389682~Salazar_sponsors...

'Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter told the BLM in March that the agency's draft analysis doesn't adequately address the potential impacts on water and air quality, water supplies, human health or western Colorado's economy. The document "is woefully inadequate in assessing the needs and impacts of an industrial complex significantly greater than the infrastructure that exists today," he said in a letter.'

Mary: the Saudis are already producing oil at its peak. They can't speed up production. The Saudis were just playing politics as for what they told Bush, but they can do nothing. We need to find other resources.

  • 1 decade ago

The Saudis are in control. They will do what they want.

The Congress is controlled by the Democratic party. They will increase our taxes instead of letting the free market take care of the economy. Better to lower taxes to spurn the economy!

Well, we all had a real nice little tax holiday with our worthless Li'l Bush. He borrowed our entire economy from the Chinese, started two unwinnable wars and just paid off all the rich people until they can't carry the money!

It's been great - but those times are over. The right wing had their little orgy - you got your disgusting little $300 tax rebate (paid for by the Chinese) - and it's time to start raising taxes again.

The government's got to run on something. Do you think it runs on right wing good intentions? It's time to pay for Bush's wars!

why did the Saudis tell Bush they won't increase oil production b/c they don't see the DEMAND for it? I am confused...
