Basically-you don't. If you take cool or warm showers, not too hard, and gently-very gently clear away the bulk of the damaged and dead skin, you can then apply a number of things to help maintain a healthy balance on the skin so as not to get too dry-or too abrased like from scratching, tight clothes, . My family had used vinegar to stave off infection-Noxema skin creme to tone down the sting and moisturize. Cocoa-butter can work as a moisturizure and scar and burn treatment, and lanolin has always been highly regarded in such cases. But today, there are many sophisticated skin preparations that are very helpful in such a situation, but I cannot really name one by name. I believe the botanicals infused are what is important. Do Not use anything that is perfumed, dyed, etc. Personally, as I have a ruddy complexion, I often used a body oil,Peppermint, Cocanut- to infuse sun flashed skin, in the shower so as to wash the bulk of it off. Having lived in Floria for over 30 years, I learned a few tricks, but they may not work for everyone.

If there are blisters, deeper first aid is required, but just the dry skin rolling off, mainly keep it clean, exfoliate it gently-take numerous showers to rinse gently, loofa well soaked are good here-medicate only if blistered and try not to wear clothes that abrade the area. That should keep you dressed in loose fitting, light colored clothes that will show off your tanned skin and won't injure the skin any more. That is where "Resort Wear" came from-and why some of the more world-worthy travelors will be found dressed like that. In other words, stay away from spandex, tight belts, bras that bind-just keep a layered look, be sure you don't get chilled (after too much sun) and definately get no more of the wonderful thing-Sunshine-until your skin survives-revives, and gets back to normal. (Unless-you are a red head- you are on your own.)

Just kidding-I come from a long line of red-heads, blonds too, so that is my input on that.

    Above all-DRINK PLENTY OF WATER-

No, screw the vaseline. Get something like Aloe Vera After Sun Cooling Gel that specifically heals your skin. I've gotten several burns from playing tennis outside in the sun alot. Aloe Vera helps alot to relieve the pain and stop the pealing. Just lubricating your skin with lotion or vaseline isn't enough

I used solarcaine on one the day it came, but after it begins to peel, you just have to be very gentle with it and keep it out of the sun. You can peel off the skin and keep it moisturized. The best idea is to never let it peel- from the moment you get a burn- put solarcaine or unscented lotion on it and KEEP IT MOIST! Never let the skin dry out and it won't peel. (That is, unless you have some nasty boils- make sure you keep those clean with Dial of something antibacterial.)

Get a good physique exfoliator/polish and use it jointly as you're interior the bathe the different day. Then make specific to places a super number of lotion on once you get out of the bathe and earlier you circulate to sleep. good good fortune!
