I am curious as to why my cat dose this and if anyone else's cat dose this also?
I think my cat has strange taste buds. She likes to lick my sofa and baseboards.
My sofa is a cloth type of materal and my baseboards are wood. She dose it at least once a week. She usualy starts with my base boards and goes around the room licking them, then if I yell at her to stop she goes and licks my sofa.
I don't think it's hurting her, she has been doing it all her life which is 6 years. The vet says she is healthy.
I am curious, mostly if other's cats have strange taste buds like mine dose and what their tastes tend to be, if you can tell me why that would be good too.

I have a cat that loves to lick her bed, I also have a dog that loves to lick the carpet of my living room.
It releases endorphins and can become kind of an addiction. when they were young their mother would groom them by licking them and they learn this behavior as a kind of comfort. as they get older the motion releases similar feelings for them.
It's healthy as long as they don't get strings or bad hairballs from it. It is very funny to watch.

NO!! Trust me-- this is NOT something you want to do to your cats!!! DO NOT use ANY flea products made for Dogs on cats!! They are formulated differently and the chemicals in the Dog Flea preps will BADLY poison the cats!! Then you will have to take them to the vet and spend ALOT more money on Vet care than you would have spent on Frontline For Cats, or Advantage for Cats. Try the online pet catalogs for the best prices on Frontline for Cats or Advantage for Cats. Your cats will thank you for it!!!

Cats do strange things sometimes - mine loves to lick plastic bags from the grocery store or other plastic shopping bags. I have no idea why.

not sure WHY she would do that! i can say, maybe she likes how it feels on her tounge. my kitten who is about 5 months old likes to clean my hair and lick our skin. i think hers is a demand for salt! she cleans us up least once a day!

i don't think she does it because she likes their tastes, it may be a nervous habit.
