Is this a New Era in The Yahoo Answers Hockey Section?

It seems like it because of the recent goodbyes by our fellow Top Contributors of the Hockey Section.

HERE is the actual question:

Just to let us know, are you considering retirement from the Hockey Section?...I am not.

I think most of the chaos should be over because now the season is over, but we might see some people with "I-Miss-Hockey Illness" that I am starting to come down with.

I am announcing 2 YAHC (Yahoo! Answers Hockey Section) Holiday's

1. LITY Day, September 15 (Day his account was created)

and

2. Bob's Day, February 1 (Day his account was created)

Any other thoughts of this chaos?

Update:

Remember those who made it great- They are leaving because they do not like how things have been on here recently.

Update 2:

Thanks Copas

TDK- If you leave, I will still email you to talk Sharks Hockey!

Update 3:

Thanks for my record of 16 Stars to one question!

Update 4:

Jacoby- Ok,

NIPS Day will be on August 22

To be honest, i've been thinking about leaving this section.

Things have definitely changed here. Quality has diminished and users have vanished. Fortunately there are still great users here that have kept this section interesting, but they are definitely getting overshadowed by the useless rants/posts/questions that seem to be filling up this section day by day.

I feel like a player at the crossroads of his career. Do i play another year or do i call it quits? Thankfully i'm just a depth player where my decision won't have such an impact like LITY's, Bob, and NIPS! lol

It's not just LITY, I also miss contributions from PuckDat, ZapCity, Komiseric is da man, Snoop (although he has been on a bit) and a bunch of others who really had a lot to offer this site. The problem is, we will never replace LITY's knowledge of the game although I can see how he could offend some people. When people put up a wrong answer he would let them know, which rubs some people the wrong way. I know he caught me a couple times, so did PuckDat, so did Bob, but them I'm not the type of guy to let facts get in the way of a good story.

I haven't been on nearly as often as I was at the start of the season so the changes here are probably more apparent to me than some of the other regulars.

As long as we have 288, Awesome Bill, Zam Driver, and a few others, I'll hang around to see what happens. Somebody's got to keep Erica in line.

I visit this section often, but I'm not a frequent contributor so any retirement talk would be pretty much meaningless.

As for the fallout, these things tend to happen on any sort of message board. A negative trend occurs, there's some kind of big blowup, and when the pieces are picked up some of the players involved are just too frustrated to continue. Life goes on, but in many cases there's not a full recovery, or the board never reaches the level it was once at.

I'm sure others will slide in to take their place, but if those who claim to be leaving actually stay away, then this board will have lost something. Part of the reason I rarely answer here is that others do a better job than I could of answering many of the questions, and it's too bad that some of those people are leaving.

    Let's hope this isn't a new era.

Yes, change may be nice, but for Yahoo! Answers hockey section, change is not good; atleast when it comes to great contributors leaving.

The only change that would be good if all the puck bunnies, trolls and ignorant people leave.

All these people just as I get my top contributor badge...damn. =[

I hope Bob, LITY, NIPS, and others come back.

I will stay here for as long as Yahoo! Answers exsists.

And maybe one day the rest of us may become the new Bob's, LITY's, and NIPS' of this section?

But hey, atleast we still got some committed people.

And we still have Joe and his hilarious answers. =D

So we can look on the brightside.

But, yes, this is definitely a sad day in Yahoo! Answers Hockey Section.

TDK put it perfectly...I could not agree more.

I thought about retirement from Y!A for a while, but there is no way I can leave Y!A, I don't have much else to do, and not too many friends left in real life.

I'll participate in LITY Day, but not Bob's day, Bob and I are not on good terms.

I got I miss Hockey illness too, but what I suggest you do is go to NHL.com and watch old highlights of regular season games of your favorite team, that's what I am doing.

King - Right on! Grab ya gunz bro, we goin' hunting!

King- Oh you know I will!

if we dont regain some smart hockey guys this will be a bad era .i have also cosidered retireing from the hockey section. But ill stick around. i learn alot from here.

ill be making an effort to try to recruit people who talkk hockey alot. I think everyone else should too.

its mainly the rpetativness thats pissing me off. but instead when im on ill just ignor previously asked questions and only answer new, improved or rarely asked ones. i wont be on as much, but youll still see me around lots.

alright....im anouncing another holiday. Rememberance day on June 5 - to remember those itellengent top contributers who mad a major difference to this site and left.

I'll be sticking around. So far I've found this section to have some of the most awesome people, but also some of the most ignorant. I'm sorry to see people leave though. I've met some great friends here...and I think the good people around here are fun! =)

  • I will be here i am still young lol...

I agree that it will calm down because the bandwagon fans and confused people will go away for the nfl and baseball of whatever else they do. There will be no more games : * ( so people wont be as interested and the bandwagoners have gone back to their cave
