What tax laws should McCain change his first week as President of USA?

At this point I doubt McCain will win. But I think any President should make an overhaul of the entire US tax code a major priority. I can't help but wonder how many billions of dollars could be saved and/or collected each year if the entire code were simplified. How much could be saved by reducing the need for auditing and enforcement.

Generally speaking, I would support a very simple tiered system where you have a % liability based on your income and deductions would be limited to dependents. I realize there are so many special situations that it could never be that simple. However, the current system is an absolute patchwork of changes, and changes to changes, and fixes to changes. Just the money saved on tax preparation would probably provide a major boost to the economy.

He should change a lot. Will he change any? Not likely. McCain is more of the same.

He won't be in that position, but he won't raise taxes nor will he lower them if he was. He will probably lower taxes for the rich, cut funding in American programs that work and veto any bill the Democrats send up as having too much pork.

Did you see what he called the FY2008 Defense Appropriations Pork spending? Look it up because I lost the link. I think it's on his Senate page... where he doesn't display his votes coincidentally

He should make a Moustache Tax because I hate moustaches.... but I doubt McCain would do anything about this because he would be the type who would like moustaches. He might have one since his skin tone is exactly the same color as his hair.... my TV can't pick up the contrast from his upper lip from his scalp.

He should insure the current rate is extended and the dividend tax is lowered to zero. He should also lower the corporate tax to 14% and watch the American industry return at light speed.

Oh yeah, and REMOVE the tax that the CLINTONS put on my grandmothers Social Security!

I think he should start taxing people who have weird dreams....like yours of Grandpa McCain actually winning. No one wants to elect a corpse, or real close to it as he has 1 and 1/2 feet in the grave.

McCain will need congressional approve for any changes. He is a fiscal liberal. He will keep feeding the deficit.

Im pretty sure the President can't just start changing laws, our legislative process does not work that way.

He isn't going to be president so we'll never know.

1) eliminate all capital gains tax

2) Make food stamps and welfare taxable

3) eliminate all taxes on oil and gasoline

4) charge a 90% tax on mass transit
