11 week old kitten tries to suckle off my skin., how to stop?

I have a very active healthy 11wk old kitten who is loving and all, but as she settles down she starts to suckle on my hand, arm, basically any exposed skin she can get to. Her two brothers don't do this, and they were all taken from mamma cat at the same time. She only does it at night, and it is most annoying when I am trying to sleep.

12 weeks is considered ideal for taking a kitten away from it's mother and now they are saying maybe even 14.. It was probably taken away too early.. ( 8 weeks is the EARLIEST)

I have a bottle baby that does it.. (I got him when he was 6 days he's a year now)

I dunno.. I let him do it sometimes.. he'sdoing it for a reason.. for comfort or for affection.. but he does it only on CLOTHED skin.. if I strip down he won't do it (I know it's odd but sometimes I need to sleep and he won't stop lol)

I would try tio figure out WHY first.. I know it's annoying but I just.. it's like not letting a baby close his finger around your finger ya know? It just feels like he needs it for some reason and who am I to stop him ..

Put pepper or perfume or something on your skin.. that might work..

Tutti-I had to laugh.. that's cute..

Your cat is doing ths because he thinks he's the boss.. he's not humping you to have sex lol.. That's also why he's biting.. My boy cats do this to each other all the time.. it sure looks like sex but they are playing and/or dominating each other..

I've taught all my cats that among them whoever is dominant can be.. but I am the ultimate dominant being.

Take him by the scruff of his neck lightly and push him closer the floor.. I have one that gets a little rough now and again thinking she's teh boss every couple months and I do this.. afterwards if he's behaving pet him and soothe him to let him knwo you still love him.. it should work..

Now he's only dominating the blanket.. sounds like someone needs a playmate honestly lol..

PS don't spank your kitty, it's not good for him to know that you will hit him.. it can cause a lot of fear.. you want respect not fear..

my 1 year old still does it but got him to suckle on a pillow and he loves it its because when the mama was feeding her kittens that 1 was not getting as much food as the other 2 so the kitten now thinks that if she does it to u then she might get some more food it is also comfort for her everytime she does it on yr arm tell her no and give her a pillow to do it on this will stop her doing it to u and u will notice that the pillow u give to her she will do it to all the time till she feels ready to stop doing it hope this helps u out and good luck :)

This is ordinary kitten behavior and is not at all unusual. Usually they try to suckle on some sort of garment lie a jumper or a cardie. It probably helps kitty to feel more secure and as she get older and feels really at home this activity will stop.

That is pretty funny. My sister use to have a cat that gave her hickeys in the middle of the night. She would wake up with huge welts on her. My cat right now has a problem with humping (yes, he is fixed). Whenever I spank him or push him aside he mounts my arm and bites me. I've tried everything to get him to stop. The only thing that has remotely worked is taking a spray bottle of water and spraying him every single time he did it. He now just humps the blanket. A work in progress =)

Maybe he is hungry you can buy him a baby bottle for kittens in the pet store and buy milk for kittens too that might work.

it may not stop, it was taken from it's mom too soon. I had a cat who lived to be 14 and still did it up until he died

haha thats funny xD try leaving the cat sleep at your sisters room or your brothers that way it will only annoy them and you'll have your bueaty sleep :P see everybody wins lol

it is a reaction mamma should still be with them beacause unless she has more kits then they are too young to be away from mum because she will wean them when she's ready they shouldn't be tooken away or elsse they will be less healthy
