First of all, if your cat has never been on a leash he/she probably will fight when you put it on. I'm assuming it is an indoor cat, even so, the best exercise is to play with them by throwing their favorite toy, they will run after it.

It all depends on if your cat gets enough excercise, cats tend to be lazy in the day and very active at night. Outdoor cats have no problem getting excercise but indoor cats...well it can be a little harder and they make harness so that you can walk your cat. I would just use your best judgement and maybe talk to a vet or vet nurse to find out for sure. Below I have included a vet nurse's information for you.

Cats need excercise (indoor, I hope- the cat) with toys and bags and tubes and catnip.
But some cats enjoy a walk. They don't automatically take to it like a dog, and tend to stop a lot, sniff, roll over, etc. Get a halter if possible. Some enjoy it, some never will.
My dad used to tie his cat out in the yard with about 10' of twine. He (the cat) loved it. Have to keep an eye on them, tho, for tangles and escape attempts (get hung on fences).

If the cat is liter box trained, then it doesn't NEED to be taken on walks, although if she needs to lose a few pounds, (which some indoor cats do) it would be a good idea!

It totally depends on the cat. My cat Princess used to love to go on walks. Every night I would walk her on her leash and most people where shocked. My other cats never liked it though. If you decide to walk kitty though it takes patience. Also get a harness that's made for small dogs. Skip the cat harness. Good luck and have fun if you decide to!!

if she's an indoor cat, you dont need to walk her, but play with her for about 30 minutes a day so she can get her exercise. like humans, pets need exercise to keep them healthy and prevent heart problems, obesity, things like that. if she's an outdoor cat, chances are, she's getting plenty of exercise on her own.

No, they don't need to be walked. My cat that I've had for 11 years is always inside and perfectly healthy. She has never been walked. Your cat might enjoy it, but it's not necessary.

Well cats are very independent so i would suggest either. letting it outside or lplay with it alot if you are keeping it indoors. or if you want to get your hand shredded you can try putting a leash on it and walking it lol

cats don;t need to be walked, and shouldn;t be, that would be cute, but cruel. just play with your cat to get some exercise in. hope this helped! :)
