Bull fighting - matador gored?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2138695/Matador-Jo...

I cannot understand how anyone thinks this 'sport' is acceptable. What is the point of torturing and tormenting a bull, killing it so cruelly and cutting off its ears as a sign of victory? I think it should be banned. What are your opinions?

The matador was lucky to get away with his life.? The poor bull is never lucky and is always killed in a slow and painfull death. A one sided "sport" if ever there was one.

I agree that bullfighting should be banned and I think it's sick that anyone can consider it to be a 'sort'.

But what really sickened me in that photograph more than anything else was the guy in the background taking photographs of the matador being tossed by the bull's horns.

What kind of freak thinks of doing that? Most people would be holding their breath or hiding their eyes not wanting to look.

Maybe we should change the sport up a bit. No more bulls, or animals of any kind. Just put the dumbadores- I mean matadors- in the ring with skewers and let the have a go at each other.

Killing any animal for sport is sick.

I grew up in the South (USA) and many of us hunted for food. Thats different. I no longer see much need to hunt nowdays. I will not even kill a spider unless its a widow or recluse and its close to where a child can get hurt.

My motto is- live and let live, then love where you can.

As silly as this may sound but when I was studying Spanish in high school, it's a reason I stopped because I had no intention of traveling to countries that allow this to go on, tradition or not. It's digusting and an abomination. I don't feel sorry for the matador.

It's barbaric to say the least.

I whole heartedly agree with you.

It just goes to show how uneducated some are and how people like yourselves have moved on from the dark ages - you have a reverence for life.

This is a Quote from the great Albert Schweitzer:

"Ethics consist in my experiencing the compulsion to show to all will-to-live the same reverence as I do my own. A man is truly ethical only when he obeys the compulsion to help all life which he is able to assist, and shrinks from injuring anything that lives. If I save an insect from a puddle, life has devoted itself to life, and the division of life against itself has ended. Whenever my life devotes itself in any way to life, my finite will-to-live experiences union with the infinite will in which all life is one."

    as an answer

it is wrong to torture and kill

this sickening barbaric cruelty should go the way of foxhunting and badger baiting, dog and co.ck fighting, bear dancing and all the other abuses of animals

yahoo police, now you can't even put down the correct term for a male bird, sheesh!

Good for the bull! I can't see bullfighting being banned in Spanish speaking countries though.

Johndehaura: nice to hear a quote from Schweitzer, pity he has been so easily forgotten.

Oban, are Yahoo sexist? can't write what a female dog is either.

Bull fighting is utterly barbaric, as is what goes on inside a slaughter house, and whilst people still believe that it is ok to treat animals this way then there is no hope for peace amongst mankind.

"For as long as men massacre animals, they will kill each other. Indeed, he who sows the seed of murder and pain cannot reap joy and love."

    Pythagoras, mathematician
