    about $5,000 total.

we got married in my parents' backyard (my hubby is in the military and we couldnt set a wedding date until the last minute and couldnt rent a venue - that saved us $500!). We invited about 300 people. About 250 showed up.

I've married off one son and three daughters, each for less than $1,000. We have a simple lunch for the "wedding party" group (typically 40-50 people). We don't pay anything for the church (use of the building is a benefit of current membership). We've had about 500 guests at each reception. One daughter has made and decorated the cakes. The family all pitch in to decorate (simply), cater, and serve, clean up. Ice cream and soda, fruits and nuts, chocolate. Not hard, not real fancy, certainly not formal. Lots of photos, lots of good memories. And, best and most important of all, I've still got all the daughter-in-law and sons-in laws that I bargained for. These weren't expensive weddings, they were valuable!

Marriage Number 1 - $800. It was outside in a lovely garden in Palos Verdes, California. My gown was borrowed from my sister. My bridesmaids were part of the girl's group I sang in and we already had some pretty nice gowns that were interchangeable for this wedding. My food and drinks were catered by my Sunday School teacher (at the time) and she charged me close to nothing.

Marriage Number 2. Held at a gorgious mansion in Nashille. The entire package was $850. By that time I ordered my knee length gown from Penny's at $75.00. The bridesmaids dresses from David's Bridal (rented) $35.00) Purple satin and beautiful! COlors were purple, blue, pearl and pink.

Marriage number #3 - WILL NEVER HAPPEN!!! LOL I've given up.

The total cost of our wedding was around $5,000. The reception alone was $2,500 and we had 150 guests. It was a full buffet dinner in a beautiful restaurant. The average wedding in the United States is $11,000.

We were going to go the court house but we finally decided on having a cheap wedding, to me I thought cheap would be around $600.00 LOL! boy was i wrong! My wedding is in two weeks and so far I have spent about $3,000.00 between the wedding and reception, but I will still spend probly about 1,000.00 more between food and drinks and last minute things. So I guess around $4,000.00

We haven't finished paying for everything yet. But so far we're around $2300. We don't have that much left to get, so I'm thinking maybe $5000 is what we'll end up spending. We've saved a lot of money though thanks to our wonderful family and friends. My parents paid for the Church and Minister, our best-man is getting us our cake and appetizers, our maid of honor is paying for our hotel room and another one of our friends is taking care of the photographer for us.
