Why do I keep coming back to this forum?
It seems to be populated by:
a) Atheists who simply want to denounce anything remotely related to God, ridicule religion and religious people, and flaunt their intellect,
b) Religious people of some sort trying to tout their version of reality, whatever it is,
c) completely clueless people who ask completely asinine questions like "is one of God's testicles as big as a planet?"
Either way, this forum seems to be mainly populated by people who have their minds made up, either way (myself included). Does this forum have any positive impact, anywhere, or are we all just masturbating?

The latter. Isn't it fun, though?

for the love man!
i know what you mean sometime i wonder the same thing. but i have heard a few here that seem to be on the right path so i can't give up hope just yet. if people who say they are christians would not worry about things like converting people and just show what we are supposed to show. Love, compassion, mercy and hope. and if non-believers would just realize you don't blame the father for the actions of children then maybe we could all get along.
Peace!!!

For me, 85% of the stuff here is rubbish, but every now and then there is an honest question from someone about something that I believe in, and I am able to answer, letting them see my opinion.
Unfortunately there are too many people who are beligerant and my message gets washed away. Somehow I think it's important to keep on 'keeping on'....

Because you can say (and read) things here that you can't get with another live person. Imagine asking someone at the grocery store how big God's testicles are. Um, you might be arrested.....but hey, you typed it on here and I have no idea who you are, but I totally agree with you and you made me laugh. Anonimity...it just works!

It's the only forum that has people in it who try to answer questions.
Seriously, post a question in another forum and you get maybe 3 answers after 3 days, and none of them are any good.

Believe it or not, I've learned tolerance. It turns out not all Christians are stupid and not all atheists are smart. Imagine that! I've found friends in most all of the different groups in here....and I enjoy laughing at the rest.

Because it is a great experiment.
It teaches us how to effectively communicate (i.e., what seems to work and what is a drinking question).
There are tons of great and informative responses here - not to mention humor and a platform from which to launch your stellar personality and have it developed -
you know....

Actually, I once warned a girl to stay away from ouija boards and she decided to do so. Sure made my efforts worth while on R&S!

"Masturbation - is it a sin according to the Bible?"
Answer: The Bible never specifically mentions masturbation or states whether masturbation is a sin. There is no question, however, as to whether the actions that lead to masturbation are sinful. Masturbation is the end result of lustful thoughts, sexual stimulation, and/or pornographic images. It is these problems that need to be dealt with. If the sins of lust and pornography are forsaken and overcome - the problem of masturbation will become a non-issue.
The Bible tells us to avoid even the appearance of sexual immorality (Ephesians 5:3). I do not see how masturbating can pass that particular test. Sometimes a good test for whether something is a sin or not is whether you would be proud to tell others what you had just done. If it is something you would be embarrassed or ashamed about if others found out, it is very likely that it is a sin. Another good test is to determine whether we can honestly, in good conscience, ask God to bless and use the particular activity for His own good purposes. I do not think masturbation qualifies as something we can be "proud" of or can genuinely thank God for.
The Bible teaches us, "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31). If there is room for doubt as to whether it pleases God, then it is best to give it up. There is definitely room for doubt in regards to masturbation. "For whatsoever is not of faith is sin" (Romans 14:23). I do not see how, according to the Bible, masturbation could be considered glorifying to God. Further, we need to remember that our bodies, as well as our souls, have been redeemed and belong to God. "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's" (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). This great truth should have a real bearing on what we do and where we go with our bodies. So, in light of these principles, I would definitely have to say that masturbation is a sin according to the Bible. I do not believe that masturbation is pleasing to God, avoids the appearance of immorality, or passes the test of God having ownership over our bodies.

I keep asking myself the same question.
