How do you know when you broke your ankle?
I think I broke my ankle but I'm not sure. I can move my foot but it makes me scream when I try to walk. How do you know if it's broken?
There's no bruises or swelling, do you think it's broken?
I don't know exactly how I hurt it. I was playing in the pool and I tripped over something under the pool liner.
My foot is going numb is this related to the injury?

Your probably sprained it unless you felt a snap. Go see a doctor if it gets bad and starts swelling, other then that u sprained it just keep it elevated and still, ice may help if it swells a lil bit

If there's no swelling then most likely it's not broken. When I broke my ankles, and my arms they swelled like crazy. Just give it some time to heal, wait like a day or two then put some pressure on it. Try and keep it elevated.
I'm guessing you jammed it, it's possible. The way you injured it makes me think that.

The only way to be sure is by seeing the break or fracture on an x-ray, something easily done by a radiologist who "reads" the x-rays. Pain and swelling are not always 100 percent reliable.

from the information provided, we can't tell. is it swollen? deformed? any bruising? if so, i would have a doctor look at it and get an x-ray. it is also an urban myth that if you can move your foot, its not broken. so i would go to the doctors anyway. secondly, how did you hurt it? it could just be temporarily bruised.
