Poll: Refilling your pet's medications?

I need your opinion, pet owners!

I do a lot of work on my clinic's website, and have been thinking that it might be worth our while to allow clients to put in for refills on their pet's medication online rather than having to call. This would mean...

There would be a 3-business day wait for online refills as opposed to 24-hr for refills called in.

Any problems with refills would mean you would be contacted within 3 days rather than within the same day (ie, if your pet is due for bloodwork). This would not apply for any OTC meds, like vitamins, supplements, flea/tick control, or for heartworm prevention.

Would you use it? What are the pros/cons in your opinion?

I would use your online refill request.

Reason is, I work midnight shift and of course a day sleeper. Sometimes I get up for a few hours a day to do chores, etc, but mostly I am not 'thinking' about what needs to get done when it comes to things like prescription refills. Or I realized I am low at 10pm when I am giving Bonnie her evening dose.

When I do think of these things is about 3am when the rest of the world is sound asleep! So yes, I think this may be an option for us pet caretakers that are out of sync with the 'daytime' world.

The down side in general is the 3 day turnaround. I saw your explanation on the Dogs board. Your clinic could offer this service and if it catches on, maybe you could train a coworker to help you monitor it.

Purrs to you for thinking of ways to help us pet caretakers.

I worked at a clinic.. people all too often called saying OMG I'm out of meds NOW.. people often don't think ahead, and if there is a problem, that means they need to think at least six days ahead.. often meds are given for a week at a time ..

don't quite understand why there would be a three day wait.. can't someone check the email /database hourly or even twice a day to take care of the refills?

The wait's not worth it. Not when you can pick up the phone and call and have it quicker. Besides- I forget about stuff in 3 days *lol* Hope that helps!
