Christians, what impression does this quote give you?

"Oh, they don't have a logical explanation of how they got here. They claim that 'nothing' exploded and created the universe. Then, they saw that everything evolved from a rock!!! Of course, they add all kinds of sophisticated language to make it all sound scientific. The truth is, they don't have any logical, scientific explanation! The reason they came up ith evolution is because they don't want to admit there is a God."

I know some of you on here are educated, so I would like to know how you feel when a fellow Christian denies hundreds of years of peer-reviewed research and scientific investigation in favor of a literal interpretation of the Bible.

Update:

I don't think I made any sweeping generalizations about Christianity by posing this question. In my opinion, this is just the bottom of the barrel of bad reasoning, and I wanted to hear the other side on it.

God is everything in this world and the universe. Since He created all this, He is then, the most scientific genius possible, ever!

Why should we even go there? Why cannot we just be content with all He has given, for all humanity, because He loves us. Why cannot we just be happy with what we have and stop trying to find other means to this life?

Why can't we just accept this and be constructive in a more positive way? Why can't we all, just let it be?

The gist of what you said is true, science has no more explanation or proof of creation than creationists. Scientists go back to the theory of the big bang and now even many of them are back-tracking of this idea, due to new reveal astronomical information. God said man would be ever learning but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Notice how science has changed it's mind and ideas so very many times and with each leap in technology some truths fall and others arise and none of the science camps are ever in agreement, so where are you. Are you willing to accept the nebulous, everchanging truths of science. God said they cannot find out his creation from the beginning. AND, the literal view of the bible has always been in error and fuel for the ideas of men. The bible was spiritually inspired and has to be spiritually interred or understood which is completely different from the literal, you see the bible was not written to or for the world, the lost, but was given to the saved for their knowledge and use.

  • It pisses me off when Christians (which i am) refute actual science with faith...i think the 2 things (scientific facts) and the Bible can and must coexist. I know God didn't literally make the earth in seven days, but I don't know that that time frame is not either a metaphor, or a simplification so that early Christians could grasp God's power and not go "i can't even comprehend 4 billion years".

EDIT: Christians making Christians look stupid makes baby Jesus cry....Natalie, science doesn't say "nothing exploded and created the universe" when you have more of an education/are older read some Stephen Hawking and he will straighten you right out...also, evolution is pretty damn strong theory that isn't easily proven wrong as you claim, it has holes/gaps in the evolutionary chain, but couldn't you admit that its possible that evolution was a tool that God used to develop the world?

EDIT2: I am curious as to what group is giving most of these thumbs down to people like me who are trying to reconcile science and faith without conflict. Is the non-believers getting pissed that their science hasn't convinced me that there's no God? or believers getting pissed that I won't take the Bible literally?

    *sigh* Ignorance breeding ignorance.

    Point-by-point:

Creations believe everything came from nothing, not one scientist ever claimed the universe came from nothing.

No idea of evolution or abiogenesis included a rock as the precursor of life.

Scientists use Latin because it is a dead language which can be universally understood, it is ID/Creationists who make up words to make it sound like they actually did scientific research and to make ID/Creationism sound credible.

It's amazing how many times people say "The truth/fact is" immediately before stating absolute lies, fabrications and unsupported ideas in an unconscious effort to persuade people who don't know any better: "Take my unsupported word for what I'm about to say next."

Evolution theory is entirely logical and scientific, as opposed to Creationism which is a matter of faith, and has been clearly identified by both science and the court of law as not being science.

Evolution is founded in fact and observation, scrutinized by peers, rigorously tested and retested, and "they" who "came up with evolution" are mostly religious themselves, including Darwin, who was at least agnostic, neither denying the existence of God nor His possible role in creation of the universe and life.

So, again, evolution deals with species, not origin of life or universe -- those are different areas of study.

People can take that quote because they like it and it affirms their beliefs, or just feels right, or they can research what evolution really claims.

What I find is that many scientific theories have been or are currently in conflict with the Bible, but only one inspires the type of argument we are seeing. The pathogenic theory of disease conflicts with the belief that disease is caused by sin. The theory of plate tectonics conflicts with the biblical age of the earth. The theory of evolution conflicts with the Bible story of Genesis.

So why is it only evolution that causes such problems? I think it is because Christians believe they are divinely created in the image of a god. Pure arrogance.

Jesus foretold us all things, including that Moses was a liar, and he worshiped the devil, through the writings of Moses the whole was deceived.

Jesus revealed to us in the book of Revelation and His Gospels how the universe, the earth and man evolved.

According to Jesus the universe is 19,6 billion years old, including the setup. That the earth is 5, 6 billion years old and that humans are 1,96 million years old. The first dominant life of earth is 196 million year old, the second dominant life is 19,6 million years.old and the time of Noah's flood was 26 thousand years go, the time of Noah began 196 thousand years ago.

Man is spirit, not flesh and was created more then 6 billion years ago.

I think that many Christians lash out like this because it threatens their beliefs about how God created the world. If what they have been taught to believe is wrong then what else could be wrong.

I think many Christians over look the very very first scripture in the Bible when trying to interpret the story of creation. It says "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth".........none of us know when the "beginning" for God was. It could have been billions upon trillions of "years" ago. So while I believe that nothing in this universe would exist without the hand of God, I do not think that we have a full understanding of how he did it. Heck the way I see it evolutionist saying the world is hundreds of millions of years old only prove the Bible to be more accurate when taken into context of the very first scripture.

Honestly? I get the impression that the person who said it does not want to do any learning on their own, or search for truth, so they dismiss what others believe in order to avoid challenging self analysis (with regards to their belief structure).

    And, yes, I'm a Christian.

Evolution is a Hypothesis and it is true that people pulling terms like "Billions of Years" and "Random Chance" because they are not able to explain. Science is just a tool to explore than proving/disproving God

Some questions to ask: Where did science come from? Is science not man-made? And is man not limited by his senses?
